Yep, that's it right there.... I've had dry spells before but this one takes the cake. I generally door knock and between renters not being able to give me permission without their landlord's consent, people just not home when I stop by, a higher than normal number of "no" (I generally get permission >75% of the time), and just crappy locations (apparently) I haven't dug so much as a zinc penny in 3 weeks! The other night I went out for three hours and only turned my detector on for a total of about 5 minutes....the rest was driving, scouting, and talking to people. Tonight wasn't much better - had it on for about 20 minutes or so this time over the course of about three hours again.

I've got all day booked for detecting on Saturday , and something needs to change because it's going to be one heck of a pointless day otherwise.

and when the flood gates open.....

Honestly think we have all been there. Doesn't make it better, but it happens. I have been working so many hours I haven't gotten to go hardly any. Maybe things will pick up for us ha ha.

sometimes you just have to make your own places to go!We all hit a rut sometimes.gl man

to be fair, I've had my Etrac since May and have had the best year I've had since I started detecting in 2005 (not stellar, but I finally found my first silver coin and other non-modern coins...buffalo, indian heads, a couple of mercs, etc). It's just obnoxious to have to go back to my Ace 250 days in terms of what I'm finding....

Weekends tend to be slumpbusters for most of us here, you know that...looking forward to your digs real soon.

Hang in there Jeff. Don't give up hope. I was getting you got in that pic for weeks myself, and when I went out yesterday to the state park, I actually scored two Zincolns! :laughing7: Sometimes a dry spell is followed by a flood, yes?

we all have days that don't cover the gas to get there, then WHAMMO, a run through the dog house, swing from a tree, holy crap-----, this is amazing find. just remember it's not a find until your coil passes over it

I'm so jealous.

Think of this as the calm before the storm. There's nowhere to go from here but UP.
Better days are comin' right??

lol I can't lie I burst out laughing when I saw the pic. Your time will come don't worry!

You are due for some good finds my friend! We all hit those dry spells.
Good luck in your next hunt!

The longer you go without finding something, the more rewarding it feels when you start finding stuff again =P

I am jealous!! That's the exact color stain I was looking for when I built my deck, but couldn't find a match!!

Don't take this wrong but, I am glad to see someone else is having trouble getting permissions, lol. I have gone 3 or 4 hours with the same " I am just a renter " or no one answers, or just plain old " No, sorry, not today ". It gets very disheartening, but better days are ahead! Keep your chin up and keep knocking:coffee2:

Congratulations! You've just systematically eliminated 3 weeks worth of work. Now your "grid pattern" has just grown smaller by 3 weeks. Again, congratulations on all your hard work. You are now 3 weeks closer to that Oak Tree Shilling and GW inaugural button.

Lol that's all I snatched up the past 2 weeks myself, lol. Hoping to add a few pieces of treasure to the chest today with some fellow tnetters.

Reminds me of a couple hunts where my "best" find was the dog poop on my shoe, lol. :BangHead: :laughing7: Have since learned to look before I leap,

Okay, I have suggestions if you haven't already gone this route: detect along the slopes & beds of abandoned train cuts and old roads, especially if you can find out where the old train stations used to be. Slopes in general are good because often they gradually erode to make deeper items available. This would also be true at creek or river embankments & near swimming holes. And try detecting the ugliest trashy empty or abandoned city lots. We've made our best finds at these train & road slopes and at crummy city lots because other people avoid them! Also because older homes & older shops often used to be on the higher ground right above the train or road cut, so many items were lost that ended up buried on the slopes. Or you could even try where roadside fruit stands or fireworks stands were during the summer (something I haven't tried yet).

If you want some free lodging in jail including meals, you could start detecting random people's purses & wallets - not!
In any case, better days are ahead for you -- including silver & gold! Have Fun! :icon_thumleft: :hello2: :icon_thumright: Andi
