the Storm

Have terrible memories of getting stuck with my rear wheel drive Chevy Impala, a big truck of a thing that had couldn't get through snow worth a damn, and really heavy to push too. But even four wheel won't help if it's a a greasy kind of snow, heavier vehicles just can't get through it. Had a nasty storm a few years back, the kind that takes you three hours to go twenty miles, and part of the reason it took so long was that trucks were spinning and going nowhere all over the place, while my little Matrix could weave right around them. Nothing scarier though than driving up a steep incline on a four lane highway with vehicles sideways everywhere knowing that if you slow down at all you aren't going to get moving again anytime soon.

I couldn't figure out a way to "not" like this post, so I went ahead and liked it anyway! :laughing7:
That Nashville traffic looks ugly. Yikes!!

It's only 69-degrees here, but raining all day.
I can handle the rain. The dog on the other hand....

Stay safe!

back in the 70's in my Teens / early 20's I learned to navigate Snow & even Climb my Mountain on Ice by
Riding the dirt with My Rear Right Tire

But My Explorer has absolutely no Control with just rear wheel Drive.
no Weight. it just tends to Slide sideways.

Don't tell anyone :tongue3:

I stopped here one time while Climbing the Icy Mountain & Discarded
2 Full 6's of Yuengling in these woods

Figuring My house was just a short ride up the Hill, & I didn't want to get caught with them :laughing7:

If you have rear wheel drive add weight lots of it that will help a lot, but that's only if you have to travel. Up hear in upstate New York I plow driveways I'll load the back of the pickup with lots of firewood I plow mostly in two wheel drive, only put it in 4wheel of needed. But them agine people up here can drive in snow! :-)

Baa, Humbug------I wish I owned and Island in the Bahamas.:laughing7: Then I could be looking for hidden pirate Treasure rather than checking out my Generator and Emergency supplies.:BangHead:

Won't be any plowing my Driveway & being I only have rear wheel Drive on my Explorer.
I'll be sitting till a serious Melt
unless someone with a plow gets Generous :(

I'm debating on Shoveling because of My Health, But thinking about maybe making a Trip out the sidwalk
and out front, once every hour'ish & try to cut down on Weight that way.
Of course the winds may make that a waste too .

Time for Summer

You have the rest of your life to get out.
If you won't leave shoveling alone , just peck away at it verrrry gradually.
Disturbed snow...like at the end of your drive will set up hard if not cleared within several hours , but will one day melt.
I try to ease into it and get conditioned but average a pulled muscle a year due to shoveling from a chair.
Bit by bit you can clear an area.
I plow drives today but used to shovel multiple drives as a youth , then get to shovel when I got home too of course.
Made real good money after a blizzard that had snow up to and over rooftops one year when roofs started leaking.
Bit by bit!
.

I just made my 4th set of tracks on my driveway - my last one for the night. Right now the snowflakes aren't flakes, they're little ice cubes, and it was pretty slick. I've two tough inclines. On my return trip there's a steep one just past my bridge. Steady and slow, 4WD, and my rear end wanted its' own track. About a 20 ft. drop off in the direction the rear end wanted to go. My driveway is on the side of a mountain, was the county road in the 19th Century.

I measured our accumulation at 7" and it's coming down lightly at the moment.

Good Luck Everyone! :occasion14:

Weird. Friends in Asheville have 12" of snow right now. East West and North of us, 4" to 6" already. If you watch the RADAR, the only place that has no snow is where we are, as the snow spirals around, but not in, East Tennessee. These mountains do screwy things with the weather. It just started to lightly snow and we have been down graded in Greeneville from 4"-8" to 2"-4". I can get around in that with the Rogue.

Be careful everyone, stay home and watch Youtube detecting videos. Or watch Breaking Bad over and over.
