Here's a real dumb question, but does anyone know what the different beep sounds mean, in each program for the V3i? Has anyone ever listed what each high/medium/low sound means, in each of the 9 programs? I am a newby with the V3i and sometimes there are so many sounds coming at you with different pitches, it's real confusing! I would like to know what each different sound pitch is identifying, like very low, I know is Iron, but then what is a medium pitch/ copper/brass/nickle? A high pitch is silver? I have never understood why White's does not explain what each sound identifies in each program? I cannot find anything listed about it. Maybe if we knew the vdi starting point/ending point of each different pitch, we could more easily identify our targets?
Sometimes we have discrimination in one ear and all metal in the other ear, so we have like 10 different tones going on combined. What do they all mean? Anyone out there want to list them? Explain them? Help? The only dumb question is an unasked one.

Impossible to answer. Learn the sounds by going out and using the machine.

When I first got my V3i I was using the coin/jewelry program and started getting use to the sounds but in order to do that I was always watching the numbers. Since then I've put my own program in it and assigned the sounds that I preferred into whichever VDI numbers I wanted. I expanded the nickel sound to more VDI's than the coin jewelry program because I like finding that gold. A lot of VDI numbers that don't fall in the nickel range are also gold is why I did this. I also put a ticking sound in there for the iron cause I like to hear everything in the ground. That's what's so nice about the V3i is you can adjust everything, I wouldn't be happy with the VX3 cause I got spoiled on the V3i.
