The shipwreck and its contents were found by Odyssey Marine Exploration

can spain claim this one?
chuck.

Yeah, same thought crossed my mind about Spain trying to claim this one too. Yes old man, I agree..... they sure are, we need more of that kind of recovery.

I hope they win the rights over odyssey i dont care much for there tactics they wont be happy until they suck every ounce of silver and gold from the ocean floor ...i hope there ship sinks

Great video... am thrilled for them. But being not so familiar with the new Unesco regulations, Can anyone explain where Unesco rules apply to this find and how it will affect Odyssey's results? Or perhaps, maybe such reg's won't apply to this find whatsoever? I am curious...

Entitled to your opinion. . .. But, you must admit Odyssey has brought forth and mastered a new and amazing technology. Giving that success, maybe they deserve the rewards for they have certainly earned it. I, for one, look forward to reading about each new discovery. The historical information they prove is tremedously valuable to the world. For example, for many years, many have wondered where did the fleet sink. In early 70's I thought the same about the Atocha and the Margarita. I bought charts and plotted a probable area where I believe those ships from the latter fleet had foundered. I actually believed they were pushed northerly, yet somewhat west of Key West and sank on the back side of the Florida keys. I wasn't too far off on my theory. But, regarding the 1622 fleet, I was clueless. Odyssey has successfully solved another mystery.

Spain and all on this forum who favor Spain in these treasure related cases, don't take this wrong.
But, SHOVE POR EL CULO

sincerly,
Trez

Just because you use fowl language in spanish doesnt make it any better....and for the odeyssey team theres just abunch of corporate treasure hunters throwing around big money to find even more they will never have there hunger satisfied until they have everything...id rather see joe blow from kokomo discover these sites then some money hungry pirates that destroy each ship they find to extact the gold they literally take the jaws of life and cut the ship hold apart to gain entry...i hope they lose there hats on future hunts and be plagued with mounting costs of operating such said treasure hunts

I am happy for the Odyssey Crew but once again after all the hard work is done and treasure is brought up Spain will probably go after this one also. Spain has already established Case Law and if they can take this too federal Court They probably would win due to the last ruling which Spain's lawyers can argue.

LOL. the wreck is over 1000 feet deep. "Joe Blow from Kokomo" won't be diving it anytime soon. Why don't you give it a shot?

The open-sea diving depth record was achieved in 1988 by a team of Comex divers who performed pipe line connection exercises at a depth of 534 metres (1,752 ft) in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the Hydra 8 programme.[3] These divers needed to breathe special gas mixtures because they were exposed to very high ambient pressure (more than 50 times atmospheric pressure). An atmospheric diving suit allows very deep dives of up to 700 metres (2,300 ft). These suits are capable of withstanding the pressure at great depth permitting the diver to remain at normal atmospheric pressure. This eliminates the problems associated with breathing high pressure gases.
......anything else youd like to add?

dusty, are you a diver?? I worked for Comex, overseas. Comex and Odyssey are trained Deep Water recovery specialist, Other Treasure Hunters aren't likely to attempt diving that deep. So your comments make no sense to the average treasure hunter. I wish all treasure hunters success. Go Odyssey Marine.

According to wikileaks the other Spain award on the Black Swan case was made before it even went to court. Our government made a deal with Spain that if they returned a painting stolen by the Nazi's during WW2 to a private citizen they would award them the treasure. Also the sea eats these old shipwrecks over time ( so how are they destroying them) as far as I am concerned if they spend the time and money on research and technology good luck to them. Its not doing anybody any good lost at the bottom of the sea. I can see not messing with old warships sunk in battle to honor the fallen. I just wish I had the time an resources to do what Odyssey does. Way to go Odyssey!!!!!
