Hi All,
Took my CTX out to the Gulf for the first time. First target was a clad dime. Second rang up in the silver range at a couple of inches. I'm thinking it's ring time. Heart skipped a beat when I saw the Spanish coin in the scoop. There was that split second when you think ALRIGHT...then reality sets in and I think someone bought it at the gift shop and tossed it or lost it. Moved on and had a mid range signal 4-6 inches. Took a couple of scoops and I see a ring in the sand. I pull out a diamond ring and my heart skipped another beat. Casually I placed it in my pouch, not the place for a happy dance, and moved on. Now I'm thinking I may have just paid for my new machine. Not so fast...when I get back to the car...FAKE!
Overall I did enjoy my first real water hunt. Scooping is more of a challenge then in the lake I tried last week.

Fakes are still nice finds in my book,besides it's good to get the heart pumping non and again.Happy hunting.

How the heck does a fake make it to the beach? I can understand someone buying it, then going to the beach and then accidentally dropping it, but what are the odds? Do you think people might plant them hoping to give an MDer a heart attack?
