Well the fall is on us, so the crops are coming off.
Couples of hours to spare, so I hit a couple of sites.
I know now why this is a hard site to do, the fire damage to the finds.
Got part of a frame, on the far end.
Then spotted the button.

Next was the Ontario Fishery Overseer badge.
It was well heated, but a beautiful save, even if it's a tad moth eaten.
This fisheries was set up in 1857, disbanded in 1907.

I moved on to the other side of the farm to another field that was disc'd.
Got the cruddy 1854 Upper Canada Bank Half Penny Token.

Got this heavy brass piece. Not exactly sure, my thoughts were off a knife

I like the fishery badge!
Thanks CRUSADER
It is a different recovery for sure, and a well received one at that.
I'm try to come to some conclusion if it was the end of life "Into the fire end" Or the house burnt, or even a mistaken garbage pitch burn pile.
The ornate frame had some burn pitting on it as well.
But all the glass shards show no sign of melt.
Time will tell if there are more recoveries showing burnt/melt.

I love those large fields
Brings back memories from Kansas

I love the research that you do
It must be so peaceful walking in those beautiful open areas
Best of Luck out there

Thanks Bill
Sometimes the open spaces are a tad quiet-to much land between finds.
But it only takes one undiscovered site that no map shows to make it all worthwhile.

Oh does that mean you're still getting rain?
The next thing you know it'll be scorching hot and dry.
Hope all is going well in the down under.
Yep mate. We get floods like now and mad bush fires where we are. After a this rain im seeing crazy growth in the bush. Lots of my favourite detecting places are so overgrown you cant swing a coil.
Stupid here, the greenies and govt have joined up, and stopped people taking dead fall wood from everywhere! They did it over the past 10 yrs.
So many places now have huge amounts of dead fall fuel.
One of my favourite areas, the Victorian Pyrenees region, I refuse to go to in summer. The Forestry stopped upkeeping the tracks, blocked many with logs. One way in, no other way out. Death traps in fires. That area has to be seen to believe what they have created! One day it will go up, from lightening or another natural reason, maybe an idiot throwing a cig out the window. But when it does it will be an inferno that nobody will stop.

Now being an optimist in life I look at it as-big fire-no underbrush-easy to explore.

Seriously it's not a good thing to be leaving the fuel to build up like that.
Didn't they learn anything about management from the SW fires?

Cool recoveries, can't wait to see what else turns up, congrats!
Thanks oldmxrat

It's a close permission where the farmer approached me, giving the freedom to wonder his 650 acre farm.
"You can hunt anytime you want Jim"

I have found 5 sites so far, but I have only hunted 4 little fields areas.
It sometimes it takes years to get to know the lay of the land, and what it can produce.

No mate. It's groundhog day here with fires and floods. Wash, repeat, wash repeat, wash...... We are run by Dimwits!

Thanks Scrounge Wanderer
The brass thing looks familiar, but just not placing it yet.
Thanks for your thoughts on what it

Excellent work Peps… and what a great post! 😍 xx
Thank you blossom
If it wasn't for the badge I probably wouldn't of even done a post up.
Still a rushed thrown together, that looks ok.
Just wishing for a tad older but beggars can't be choosers.

You're so lucky to be where you are-somewhat similar in history-just a zero separates the finds.
I have 200 yrs here-you have 2000 yrs there-so similar :laughing7:
