Well the fall is on us, so the crops are coming off.
Couples of hours to spare, so I hit a couple of sites.
I know now why this is a hard site to do, the fire damage to the finds.
Got part of a frame, on the far end.
Then spotted the button.

Next was the Ontario Fishery Overseer badge.
It was well heated, but a beautiful save, even if it's a tad moth eaten.
This fisheries was set up in 1857, disbanded in 1907.

I moved on to the other side of the farm to another field that was disc'd.
Got the cruddy 1854 Upper Canada Bank Half Penny Token.

Got this heavy brass piece. Not exactly sure, my thoughts were off a knife

I went to detect a lot where a house burnt down as I was walking up
the sidewalk to the lot laying on the sidewalk was a lightly scorched V nickel
How someone didn't see it I'll never know and that was the only thing I found.

Good stuff friend. Im so wanting to get out here but cannot from our weather. Waiting ...... waiting.......

Congrats on the nice recoveries. Looking forward to see what the Deus 2 finds you!
Thanks Hoagie
It should land today on the porch (tracking says it left Ottawa on the 15th)
Though I'm only 90 minutes from them-hence the term "Snail Mail":laughing7:
I worked one area where the badge came out of pretty good, as well as the second site has now been prep'd for the new machine.

Nice finds pepper. That bank token has seen better days. Such a good looking coin to start with. King George slaying the dragon is so cool. I do believe that your mystery piece is off a scythe where the blade attached to the handle. I may be wrong though

Cool recovery
One of those :dontknow:detecting mysteries that keep us wondering

Nice finds! I love the fisheries badge! I hope someone IDs your brass thing because I have one too!
Thanks Lenrac
It looks familiar in some respects.

Thank you Centsless Detecting
I certainly know the piece that you are referring to.
The only ones I have seen are made of steel, but that doesn't discount your ID at all.
Thanks for the information.

Great post
Congratulations on your great recoveries
Thanks Bill
It scratched an itch for the time being, though the season has just started I hope I'll get out a few more hunts in before the "Old Man Winter"comes a knock'n.
Hope all is well with you.

Nice pepper 🌶.....I like the fishery badge !!
Thanks Bart
I learnt a lot of our history reading up on the timeline of fish in the province and what has happened over the past couple of hundred years.
I didn't realize that this was such a dangerous occupation even back then.

1859

Fisheries overseer William Gibbard complained about anglers using brook trout as bait

1863

Fisheries overseer William Gibbard was murdered over a disputed fishing lease agreement on Manitoulin Island.

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!!
Thanks Digger RJ

Oh does that mean you're still getting rain?
The next thing you know it'll be scorching hot and dry.
Hope all is going well in the down under.
