How to listen to Blue Jeans Blues, Set in your ole worn perfect fit recliner, a raging Lake Effect outside, warm woodstove burning in front of you, glass of Yukon Jack, a fine cigar, headphones on, just chilling :headbang:
"Born of hoary nights".
Canadian blend.
Me and Jack parted ways a long time ago. One of us wasn't going to survive if we kept it up.
A slight anise flavor is recalled.

Miss my stoves.
Don't really miss the year round wood cutting.
If I had a chimney I'd build another.
Been looking at ways to burn pellets ; and also waste oil. Pellet mills are kinda pricy for the cheap look of the little ones. A hammermill and dryer would be needed too.

The winds are raging outside today, limbs are snapping hitting the house on a regular guy basis.
We heard a deep heavy one just a few minutes back.
We looked at each other, oh that was deep.
Kind of sounded like a heavy truck door slamming.
I guess I should go check the garage, barn roofs.
Little one can really do about it either at the moment.
Placing a tarp in 50 mph winds, oh that's not going to happen.
Snow tracking towards us, blizzard conditions are expected.
Few flickering lights, oh it might happen yet.

Hope it ends well for you there. Stay safe.

Love the old lamps.
I got this one when I was detecting a number of yrs ago in some hills. I came across an old gold mine. The cut went into the side of the hill then about 15 meters in was a deep shaft who knows how deep straight down. This was hanging on the wall right next to the shaft. I ummed and ahhed about getting it. Desire got the better of me. Stepping in nice n easy my feet sunk into powder dust about 3" deep. Nobody had been in there for years. I had to lean towards it with my head peering over the shaft opening one hand with fingers grabbing at the stone wall to balance. I got it obviously but wouldn't do that again. I thought "you idiot" immediately afterwards. Its not as old as the mine, the mine was opened or first worked around 1870s to 1880s. This lamps I think early mid 1900s, so someone in the early to mid 1900s had another go there and left it.
A Feurhand. Iv not been able to find this exact model to date it. There are similar but not this exact design in my searches.

Was heading back out to the Mojave Desert today for a hunt but got thwarted by white stuff. Probably a hundred year event.
Turned around and headed for Searchlight and gave it a go at a little mine I spotted from the road, a little ways out of town. Didn't find much, but nice to get out.
Cool old steel boat hull sitting out there in the desert.

Nice photos. I once found a small steel boat, probably only big enough for 1 person, on the goldfields. I concluded, right or wrong, it was used as a water trough to hold water for panning off wash in the dry area it was in. Do you think it may have been used to hold water? How fars the nearest water to there that a boat could be used in?

After seeing some old time photos here I thought id post these. I have these on small boards about birthday card size. Got them from the gold shop I worked in yrs ago.
First is I was told by the boss a Cob &Co coach here in the Aus goldrush days making its way down a steep hill.

This one is some old miners. Many said it was from near Dunolly in Victoria, its from I believe the Gulgong diggings NSW.

Always kept a fresh pint in my driftboat. When out fishing winter steelhead, we'd add a shot or 3 to a cup of coffee, and now ya got something that'll warm your innards on even the coldest frosty morning. Absolutely the nectar of the gods..

What to expect: This is a pic from back in '05. You'll note that there is snow falling, and it appears to be a bit chilly out. Notice the angle the snow is falling at? That's because
the wind pushes it sideways..and yeah, the wind makes it feel even colder.

It was, roughly, -18 (in Australian).

Still wanna go fishing?
