I have a friend the Dr's told him he had a pinched nerve in his from a fall.

I said to my other buddy early summer it was ALS.

(I had 2 family members die of it, and it sure looked, and sounded the same.)

No, folks stated it was a pinched nerve, 2 yrs he's had the problem.

Saw him yesterday they finally figured it out ALS, 4 months to live.
His sense of ha, ha has diminished. ☹️

Hi. Had to look that up. Here called Motor Neurone Disease.
We have an Aussie rules football player who was diagnosed I think 10 yrs ago. Each yr we have what we call the Big Freeze, a round of football to raise money for fighting it. Players and tv personalities dress up as someone then slide down a huge slide into ice water. Its been going for 10 yrs since Neale Daniher started it after being diagnosed. He was supposed to be gone yrs ago but he is still going, but its claiming him. They have raised millions since it started to find a cure and to help those with it.
Sorry to hear about your friend.

I guess the celebrity status boosts the fan base.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a rare, fatal neurological disorder that progressively destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

Steven Hawkins lived a long life actually considering the disease.

My brother-in-law lived many yrs with a form of it. (Kennedy disease)
My sister-6 months from diagnose.

It strikes me as unusual that you've had two family members and a friend with it. I'm sorry that they, and you, had to experience it. Do they know what causes it?

That's the big question with researchers regarding the odds for a husband/wife to have the same type of disease.
They discounted environmental causes right away.
Then again who really knows as they seem to have no answers on why.

Hi. Here there are suspicions between environmental links. Blue Green Algae which has been common in areas that MND, AlS, the same thing, were above average.

That type of algae is here in Florida. It is 100% caused by man induced factors. Agricultural run off from the enormous sugar farms south of Lake Okeechobee is one of the primary causes. Sad, as Florida doesn't need big sugar at all. The industry is a major polluter of the water & land. They employ few locals and sell 99% of their product out of state. The owners are billionaire's who fly to & from the farms on lear jets while the farm workers live in squalor. Of course all the environmental groups have been trying to give them the boot for decades but they contribute big bucks to the political machine that then makes sure they can continue business as usual. Totally disgusting. Sorry for the rant.
