White's Electronics MX Sport Metal Detector

White's MX Sport Waterproof Metal DetectorThe White's Electronics MX Sport is new for 2016. It is a descendent of the hugely popular White's MXT, and ups the game by adding features in a lighter weight yet waterproof package.

The MXT is extremely popular because it does almost everything very well; coin, relic, jewelry, and nugget detecting. Despite being so versatile the MXT is also a bargain priced detector with performance rivaling much more expensive detectors. The MX Sport looks to share and extend this remarkable versatility. Many people have wished for a waterproof MXT and White's is delivering with the MX Sport
The MX Sport has only just now been leaked via the FCC applications needed to get any new detector approved for use in the United States. White's themselves has yet to release official information, so everything here should be considered preliminary and subject to change. keep an eye out here for details as they emerge.

The MX Sport comes with the 10" round DD coil and has a couple coil options taken directly from the MXT lineup. These are the 950 round concentric and 10" x 5.5" DD elliptical. Although these coils are probably the same coils as used on the MXT they have the special waterproof connector needed for use on the MX Sport, and so coils will not be directly interchangeable between the MX Sport and MXT. It does raise the interesting possibility of an adapter fitting that might make people with an existing MXT coil selection able to take advantage of that without buying all new coils. That remains to be seen however.

Great info thanks . If I didn't love my v3 so much id be buying one of these in a heartbeat. It certainly look that this machine will be a home run . Nice going whites

is this a pi machine or vlf?

Now we need a waterproof version of the v3i . I would buy that in a second :)

MXT Pro water proof should be a good detector.. Any more info or pictures on it ?

Now if only Whites would have coils for the MXT that wouldn't float like corks. They advertise their coils as "neutral buoyancy" yet you have to hold them down near the bottom when in the water. This gets tiring after a while. Other manufactures coils don't float, how come Whites can't do this?

I wish that they would have stuck with the analog adjustment knobs. My favorite feature on the MXT was not having to scroll through menus mashing buttons.

I have found many many many relics with my Vision V3 metal detector. Honestly if White's would have came out with a water resistant MXT with wireless headphones I would have jumped all over it.

I am happy White's has finally came out with something new, but I just scratch my head wondering why they have not developed their wireless headphone technology into new models. That is a big deal for those that have already upgraded to the V3. It is very hard to go back to being tethered to our machines. Especially when relic hunting in thick forested areas where having wired headphones is a huge deal.

The biggest reason I have stayed with White's is because of the engineering that goes into their machines. The fact that I can use my V3 coils with my MXT is huge. Besides my Vision when it first came out I have never had any issues with any of my machines. White's machines are built like tanks. Bringing wireless technology to the MXT to me was a no brainer so much I was actually betting on it. In my mind this would be the logical new feature to add to the MXT.

It would be nice having a waterproof MXT, but having a water resistant wireless model to detect in a light rain would have been much better in my opinion. I find myself caught out in a passing shower cloud far more than I find myself standing in a river.

I hate that the MXSport looks mostly plastic , but I understand it is easier to water proof it. I just hope that this is not the direction White's will be taking all of its new models going forward. Instead of making a digital waterproof MXT model I would have preferred as a long time loyal customer if they would have dropped the MX from the name completely and kept the MXT breed true to it's roots with an analog water resistant wireless headphones model with boosted gain, memory, and updated ground tracking.

I think the MXT Pro is the best all round metal detector offered on the market today. The thought of seeing a new MXSport (looks like Motorcross Sport) with push button pin pointing makes me shake my head.

Hmmmm?..coin,relic,nugget and jewellery,...sounds like what an AT pro does. "Oh hey Sandman", the coil on the AT pro doesn't float.

Something tells me it wont do good in the salt bummer.

Yes physics tells me that it won't be. The same reason all the other single freq VLF's aren't good in wet salt sand. Some still think because it's a new single freq VLF that somehow it will be good in salt.

The Nokta Fors Core works great in wet salt sand.......If Nokta comes out with a waterproof version, that would be something to whoopee about.

Whites is giving us the backlight that Garret should have put on the AT Pro, but it is at a cost since the Whites MX takes twice the amount of batteries to do it.

And the cost is...
