The most unusual coin spill EVER!. . . and it's not over yet. . .

Earlier this week, I spent three hours hunting a local site that's been
producing an interesting variety of finds. This site is over 125-years old
and every now and then, will surprise me with an unexpected relic or two.

The most interesting relic so far is the Sterling hollowware handle to
either a ladies' hairbrush or hand mirror. The only info I've been able to
find on this is that it was made by Reed & Barton but, no luck in matching
a pattern or date. . . I welcome any of you're thoughts.

Day Two:
Was out early this morning and went to a forested part of this site and found an interesting
button encircled with glass beads and less than 20-feet away, a 1902 Indian. . . my first :)

After thoroughly having my hopes rejuvenated by these last two finds, there was a bounce
in my step as I made my way to the next forested area. . . and possibly some old silver!

Little did I know that at the edge of this forest, I was on my way to recovering my most
unusual coin spill EVER :o. . . When I first began searching, my XLT was going
ape$hit with penny signals. . . no matter which direction I went. . . penny signals!
I did a quick perimeter search to find out how large this area was and it was AT LEAST
6 x 8 feet in size (remember, I haven't started digging yet :o)

OK, after all these penny signals I thought someone might have dumped some
scrap metal so stick my knife in the dirt to find out and out pops two ORANGE pennies!
I dig 3" to my right and out pop 3 more. . . and so on. . . and so on. . .

THEN, :stop: :stop: :stop: Thunder, Lightning, Rain. . . I quick cover my holes,
spread some leaves and hide any footprints. . . and leave. . . >:(

To be continued. . .

That straight, machine tooled object is a joint holder. And if you fill the chamber area with weed, it will act as a filter, absorbing more resin. The idea is the added resin will deliver more Tetra-Hydra-Chloride to the user resulting in a greater high. You may want to clean this item out if you ever plan to sell it, mail it or take it onto a airplane! Oh, but now that weed is legal in most states... Its 420 somewhere! Smoke 'em if you got 'em !!!

Maybe tossed away after a detecting event. Rallies over here sometime paint old pennies & bury them, for everyone you find you get a raffle ticket. Just an idea :icon_scratch:

Hold the phone people!....if there is this big amount of pennies.....It could be from a robbery!.........Banks put exploding paint cans in bags if they can get away with it which go off after a short time away from the bank marking all the coins in paint!

Best of Luck on continuing your search of that spot.

bank normally use red colored "dye" packs -- not paint --- painted coins are commonly used in "penny hunts" by metal detecting clubs)including the one I belong to)--(he who finds the most coins wins )--- pennies are used since their cheap.

Those pennies might be ones that vending machine companies, pool halls etc used to use. If a person lost their penny, the managemt would insert one of the coloured ones to get the game or machine going, and reclaim them when the machine was emptied of coins.

I guess he didnt what to lose them. LOL thats why its orange da. Cool finds

Re: The most unusual coin spill EVER!. . . and it's not over yet. . .

I'm not buying the club hunt theory - this is way too many pennies over way too small an area - and there is no

variety in the coins ( ie. dimes , nickels , quarters etc. ) I do not as yet have an explanation for the paint.

Argentium.
