Hello all,,,
I copied this staight from my website. I didn't feel like typing the same story twice, and I did a fairly good job of it the first time, so, here are my finds from yesterdays hunt...

I've been able to sneak out quite a bit more than I thought I would this week and it's turned out to be a pretty good week. Got out to another one of the local parks here in Indy and hunted a few areas we hadn't hit to hard in the past.

We, "davedigs" and I, decided to hunt a little medium between two streets near the park. The first coin I dug was within the first few minutes of the hunt. It was a "1946 Wheatie" at about 6" down. It wasn't too long after finding the wheatie I get a signal that didn't really sound all that great, showing only 4" on the depth meter, and very loud in the head set. It was one of those signals that sounded more like a bottle cap rather than a coin. I decided to go a head and dig it anyway and was very surprised to see the 1919/S Mercury dime sitting at the bottom of the plug. I was also disappointed because of a small scratch I had put on it with my knife. :(

At this point, I didn't know whether to show Dave, or not. He hasn't found a single piece of silver for the year, which is very unusual for him, but when he looked my way I held it in the air between my fingers. We both know, usually when one of us does this, we have found something nice. I usually always try to let my partners know when I have found something. I think it adds to the thrill of the hunt just knowing that there are some good possibilities in the area. We hunted this area for a little while longer and I found the other wheaite, 1954/D, at a depth of about 5" down.

We actually did a pretty quick hunt over this area without really hunting it as hard as we could have and decided to go a head and hunt inside the park itself. I wasn't having much luck inside the park until we started working our way back towards the car. It was then I got a hit at 7" down that I knew was silver when I heard it. It was the "1928" Mercury dime and I had hit it with my knife also. I've been pretty lucky finding some good targets lately, but haven't been very lucky at all when it came to digging them up.

All in all it was a good day. Dave did end up with a few wheaties and I'm sure he'll blow me away on the silver before the year is up. He beat me by about 2 to 1 last year and he is also the one that's tought me just about everything I know about detecting. I found the lock somewhere in the mix. It's just a little cheapy, but I'll go a head and throw it into my little box of little cheapies. :)

I hope you were able to get out, and had some luck.
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Great digs Leon! You're off to a flying start this season. Been there and done that on the coin scratching. It's a terrible feeling when it happens.I found out that a barrel tipped probe can do some damage no matter how careful you are.I purchased an electronic pinpointer to help avoid that problem. Of course slowing down and careful plugging helps but that's sometimes easier said than done. Anyway...Best of luck to ya!
HH!
