The Many Lost Treasures of Mariposa, CA (Photos Added)

We do most of our prospecting past Perlot, off of Bull Creek road. We always find some good color, and if you are in Groveland you should be in that same line of tetonic events that has made the most famous of deposits in the state. Heres to your quick recovery and perhaps you can dig or detect some of that treasure for yourself. Our last run, only 4 hours produced this. Not enough water to keep running, and my son detected the piece out of our tailings.
Love your pictures!! Go back out there and get some more. We need more pictures!! (lol)

Rain canceled us last week, looks like maybe the same for this upcoming weekend.

Think positive!! The weather forecast calls for 67 degrees and partly sunny for Friday and Saturday. Then Sunny and 74 degrees on Sunday and Monday. Sounds like a great time for getting some gold. (lol)

Doesn't look like I'll be out getting the gold this weekend. Were the front edge of a storm going south

Class is a basic geology class. Figured I'd try to learn more about the area

TankerJ, I'm not sure what you're asking here. Area in the campgrounds?? Sorry, but you'll have to be a little more specific. If I can answer your question, I'm sure that the KFC would be sufficient. (lol)

I was referring to the campground you mentioned in postings where you met up with Mpg & others / right now I am in So. Cal. high desert area but plan trips to prospect around your areas.

(lol) Hokay! I think you're talking about Willow Placer area. Whenever you make it up this way, let me know and I'll try to meet you on the river. Though usually by the 20th of the month, I'm so low on gas money, I don't go anywhere until the next SS check. But, I'll do my best.

Eagle

Eagle I know all too well that too much month left over at the end of the money problem lol I too have it & am also on SS . When I do make it up there I will pick you up if you like & we can do the outing on my dime I look forward to it & will bring the KFC & Pepsi also.

Wouldn't that make a great ad: Retired Miner trades bags of Extra Crispy KFC for bags of gold! :occasion14:

I never did answer your main question. Sorry. In short, the MXT is an excellent machine. For the first year that I had mine, I kind of got the opinion that it wasn't worth the price, then I found a .130 gram nugget, (actually, not much more than a picker). It was in the bedrock, about 4" below the coil. That's when I realized that I wasn't paying enough attention to those little disruptions in the sound. I was relying on the digital readings rather than sound. So, all in all, the MXT is a very versitile machine. Great for coins, jewelry and gold. Just don't try to use discriminate when hunting for gold. The more you discriminate, the larger the nugget has to be for the machine to pick it up.

Eagle thanks for the MXT setting info & I also prefer Original recipe lol /as far as trading bags of gold for KFC goes informed help only goes so far & I seem to remember all through your posts you were all about helping out fellow MDers/prospectors etc. Sounds like Calisdad has forgot the mantra "what comes around goes around" I bet Karma hasn't & just might reward you accordingly with a big or bigger nugget for your kindness to others.

Well My Brother, I wish Karma would hurry up and pay me some proper wages. (lol)

And, even if it doesn't, I'll continue to help my fellow prospectors as much as I am able. Frankly, most prospectors/miners in my age group had to learn the hard way. No books or helpful advice. But, it also helped to learn what to look for and what not to do (again). I fully believe that before much longer, I'll have made a complete change of methods to the metal detecting and then, watch my smoke. (lol)

Eagle I have always tried to help others best I could with no thought of financial or debt owed me as first consideration in doing so/ I believe this to this day & don't intend to change I"ll let Karma sort the others rewards out or their conscience if they have one.

Eagle I am going to take the hopefully gold finding MXT out in a couple of days & give a go on an old abandoned homesite/I will post back if I find anything old silver/ gold etc wishing you well friend.May good luck always be at your back.

As Lanny said; Good luck my Friend. I hope you find a ton of old silver and at least a pound of gold. We'll be waiting for your post.
