Out with Ironhorse yesterday and we were ready for action and looked the part both of us being back to our high school weights, which I guess combined would be about 75 pounds gone from last Winter. Nothing we coordinated, he just got on a health kick and for me food allergies/sensitivities have basically stopped me from eating pretty much all the good stuff. So the next time any of my digger friends are over to visit, while you're eating pizza and having a grand ole time, I'll be eating health food. To me it's actually a great trade-off and I'd rather get my high from buttons than food anyway.
...and speaking of which, this Royal Stannary Local Artillery button (1808-1816) is the only one either of us could come up with. It's sad to see such a great site become so slim, but I'm sure we'll still hunt it once a year if for no other reason than to remember all the great days (Ironhorse had) and simply to say we did. Our hunt didn't end with that though, we tried another field I hadn't been to in about 15 years and the results were below my expectation, but then we got on a new field with a new site in a favorite old area of ours and dug some crusty coppers and a few plain buttons, and was a good way to end the day.
