We knew after Cru'Dads epic gold coin find we would need to settle back into normality, & we got exactly what we expected.
We changed fields to the neighbouring one, its closer to the Village. Plus we had gridded 20 of the 28 acre field already. We met the owner today told him about the Gold Coin & its now ours.8-) Actually that's how I know its a 28 acre field, he told us after I had guessed 30, so pretty close. Therefore, I'm happy we have covered the best 20 acres, the rest we can try another year if we get desperate.
This new field is only about 10 acres, & should only take us another 2 days to finish, by which time we hope to have 1 Hammered. Very poor land, but like the Goldie proved, you got to cover it.

So Cool!! Great hunt! Congrats and HH

Nice finds!

I have a question that I'm genuinely curious about.

On something like 10 acres, how do you cover it in 2 days and consider it done?

I can't even cover an acre of U.S. farmland in one day and consider it cherry picked, and to grid it would triple the time for me. Am I just being to thorough? Do you only target surface and near surface signals only?

I can't imagine myself swinging like a banshee, and pressing forward so quickly with thousands of years history burried in the soil. I'd like to though.

Can you please enlighten me as to how I can do it, or how you do it?

Nice bunch of relics - buttons & coins - congrats on these finds and especillay the gold coin - slow steady speed and grid work - anyway thank you for the pictures and story & I wish you many more great finds while out dirt fishin.

That's because I break convention. I go low & fast, not low & slow. But more importantly my recovery time from beep to pouch is circa 30 seconds or less. If the ground allows it I ignore nothing & dig everything over 10 on the Deus, Plus get rid of many surface iron nails.
See the below as an example:

When you can consistently do the above you can cover (Grid) as much land as Cru'Dad & I. That's the secret. Do I think we have finished it. Hell no. But we know whether we need to cover it again for the next 15 years.

Sorry, but wrong, no slow about me. 1 Brit said he thought there was 2 of me on the field. Every time he looked up, I was at the other end of the field. Everytime I saw him, he was on his knees.

PS. I never use my knees.

Nice hawking bell! If i remember correct i had only seen one other posted before. Do you report the pidgeon rings? I had never got a response of the Belgium Pidgeon Club. The Dutch club thanks thanks with a nice mail every time.
Harvest started here. First potatoes are out and barley fields threshed. Farmers started drilling and the fields are nice and flat. Now we have to drive around to see which sites are open.

No I don't report, because I've saved live Pigeons & they are not interested, why bother with the rings!

We just saw our first Oilseed Rape swathed, the Barley might be done in 2 weeks, getting exciting, & sounds the same for you. Crack on buddie:headbang:

PPS. Just to clarify of the 10-12 acres available. We have already done about 1.5 in half a day. Plus we did about 2.5 acres today in 4 hours 15 minutes. Which leaves us 6 acres in 2 days, which is an easy 3 acres per day or 1.5 acres per man per day. (Average day 5 hours.) Plenty of time.

Have you posted your settings, or care to share?

Granted, I was learning the machine (in full tones) back before soybeans were planted this year, but I still had targets every step or two, mostly shotgun shells, lot's of lead, iron, occasional trash dropped by a careless hunter, plus many goodies too. And I'm one to do everything upright on the farm with sub-30 sec.recovery, no problem. Easy to do in any park, or farm field. Being primarily a jewelry hunter, I'm aquainted with rapid, clean recoveries. Sometimes 50 or more each hour, and kneeling, but I'm never covering very much ground going that fast.... in the park, or the field.

I must have very trashy fields or something. The whole lot of them. I'd love to see, with my own eyes, your trash at the end of a hunt. :occasion14:

Amazing. :notworthy:

I'm basically 95 Ses & 0 disc (old talk), 12Khz.

In your situation I dig all shotgun shells & lead, & everything over 10. (Even if its a beep a swing) Some deeper 00's or --.
I never kneel, I dig, & grab the item in my hands first grab (most times). I even have rings on both hands, so no passing over the coil. I just know most times what it is & how deep & where it is in the pile. Instinct or second nature.
Although I know all the sounds & have never bothered with VDIs in pass detectors, I do now just glance a the ID & use it to better guess.(love calling out what it is before i've dug) But I NEVER dig numbers.
