The Green Flash

I know the condition exists where the atmospheric recipe is just right for the green "flash" at sunset.

What photographic evidence do you have as to the flash, fire in the sky, sun dogs, rainbows or other solar refraction in our atmosphere.
Crazier yet, opalescence in rocks, meat or fish.

Natural iridescence anyone?


Anyone seen a ring around the moon?

The light flashes have been written about for hundreds of years. There are also mists the Germans called "WITTERUNG". The Welsh had blue mists that rose from their tin mines.

The best time to see the light flashes is during the rainy season when there is a lot of humidity in the air.

Quixote was even mentioned in one quip. A lot of participation on that topic i must say.
Had my topic been more carefully placed I think it would have been a lot of fun.

The subject of St Elmo's Fire came up though, I have only seen that with helicopter blades.

Oh well, Buy a kite and you get no wind, buy a telescope and you get clouds.
