"the great seal of the state of california"metal shank button w/star in center..

there appears to be a date below the star but i cant read it..it looks like 1530. the button is approx. 7/16" diameter.."the great seal of the state of california" is around the edge....anyone have a clue as to what this button was on?

what is the backmark on the button,it sounds like a California State seal button,but the took does not show one with a number 1 on it.
