The Good, The Clad & The UGLY!!

Had a good day of hunting! Found a silver ring, and a gold-plated medalion <GOOD>. Found quite a bit of clad <CLAD>. And a bridge with a gold tooth.....eeewwwww <the UGLY>.

I couldn't believe it! My first gold tooth. Anyone else out there got any kinda gross finds they want to share?

Re: The Good, The Clad & The UGLY!!

True story: went to a yard sale once where they had a ring box filled with little stuff. Looking through it I found the guy's gold-filled tooth that he said he had had removed years ago so that a bridge could be put in instead. As I was about to buy his gold-filled tooth, his wife grabs it from my hand and says, "No! That is too disgusting to sell, and I told my husband not to put it in there." Well, with a negotiated price of 10 cents I thought it was a good deal and was willing to buy it at that price. The woman let her disgust with it override a cash sale. Her loss, IMO. So I guess I'm saying that although it may be an UGLY find for you, it might be worthy of some cash from someone else. Each to his own when it comes to "treasure."

Anyhow, the other stuff is great (too) and congrats on a good day out hunting.

Nice finds,

The gold tooth ranks as one of the most ugliest finds you could make.

EEEEEkkkkkkk :) Haven't MD'd anything gross yet, but I did find someone's index finger floating at the beach when I was 5 yrs old. Took it to Mom, she told me to bury it, instead I set it adrift again... thinking that maybe the person was out there looking for it and they might see it floating along :-\ Hey, I was 5.

Re: The Good, The Clad & The UGLY!!

One of my old gold dental crowns was included with the gold and silver stuff that I cashed in to buy my last metal detector, so I would consider that partial as money in the bank. On the other hand if anything was ever graciously researched and returned, I imagine that partial plate owner would love you forever!

Dental gold is usually 18-19 karat.Do what I did with ones I got from an estate.Take it outside and belt it with a hammer.Teeth disintagrate and you are left with the gold [not so gross]
