The Gillette mother lode!

Hi; The Prices he stated are correct. $2200 is a seal. It should be in the $4000 Range. I have boxes of them. 24 to a box. I also have the Gold Toggle Edition. They can go for up to $2100 each.My father worked at he World HQ's for Gillette for 32 years. He always brought home the newest razors and prototypes on the market. All toll I have about 70 boxes of all the different types. I'm getting ready to sell them off to meet my debts. Maybe even get a new detector as well. I've been looking at the Canon EOS Rebel Cameras and a Tamron Lens for it as well. I'll let you know. NOPE they are not for sale right now ok. PEACE:RONB :leprechaun-hat:

You have 70 boxes with 24 razors in each box? That's 1,680 razors! Even if the average sale price of each of yours was only $100, you would make $168,000. I think you'll be able to swing a Canon camera and perhaps a new detector or 10. ha If you have boxes of the OP's razors then you have $million(s) in razors.

Sell them one at a time- if you flood the market you'll crash prices!

Duh.webp

Haha, yep. Better sell them quick before Barker floods the market with half of the Gillette factory! Ok. Ok.

I would ABSOLUTELY cancel the auction, relist it with a CORRECT title, and a starting bid of $1999.99

The key to pieces like this is to get it in front of the eyes of the right collector.

Not only should you sell them one at a time, but you should not tell anyone else about this... You will kill the market.

I bought 4 Gillette razors in cases for $3 each and 4 single Gillettes for $1 with no cases. This one was $1. I had no clue it was a rare prototype that collectors are desiring! After I listed it in auction style starting at $19.99 with in 15 minutes I had several offers and people telling be its called a "bottom dial". I got a bid right away as well so I couldn't change the title. My highest offer was $2200.00!!!! What?!? I declined that offer as well as several lower offers. I am pretty pumped about this one and I'd be perfectly happy if it sold at the bid it's at today. Check it out if you'd like.....just had to share with my fellow T'net garage salers!!

Hi; I "DO" have them. Nope they are NOT for sale at all. They are only a few a some of the things I have from Gillete. To me, it is the Sentimental value that is worth more ok. It's Howdy Doody Time. !!!!!!!!!! Think about it. !!! :icon_scratch: :laughing7: That's right. I've been saving all these years. I still have my Howdy Doody Night Lamp from my child hood in Mint State. Keep drooling. Just kidding on the drooling. PEACE:RONB :headbang:

Make sure your kids know the value of this stuff, and know how to dispose of them when the time comes (hopefully in a good long time).

Hi; I certainly will. She already knows they are worth a lot. I keep a Journal that has "EVERYTHING" written down including, Dates Bought / Recieved, Prices Paid, Current Prices and how prices increase at a rate of 20 % + each year and that she needs to factor that in as well. I teach her well. If you only knew what I have you would fall over ok. PEACE:RONB :leprechaun-hat:

I thought about doing this earlier but I'm just going to let the auction ride. I have 185 watchers and I'll be happy with whatever it sells for. I'm already very happy with the bid it's at now. I just hope they can pay when the auction is over.

You already made back what you paid for it so whatever profit you make is extra money in the pocket.. I'd be jumping for joy just to get a few hundred out of it;)

In all honesty , how long can a razor hold it's value.? In this economy sure. In a bad economy,... is a razor worth thousands of dollars.... Sorry, I say this as I'm watching a hurricane getting ready to destroy everything I love. Reflecting on all the memories and vacations about to wash away.

Hi OA; Not all 70 boxes are the bottom type but about 27 boxes of them are. The others are RARE as well. I bet you will never think about Razors the same way again.!!! :laughing7: PEACE:RONB

Ahhh... I understand what you were saying now. Thanks man. You're right, I certainly will never look at a razor the same. :laughing7:

I'll go ahead & say it. Anyone that has 27 boxes (with however many in each box) of razors that are worth $2-4,000 each that can't "afford" to buy a metal detector & a camera is "not quite right".

Rare is rare. If the supply is that limited, there will always be a premium to be had. Take for instance, 1911 handguns that were made for WWII by various civilian manufacturers. Remington, Springfield, Ithaca made hundreds of thousands of these, just like Gillette pumped out millions of razors each year. But then there was Singer Mfg. of sewing machine fame. They only made 500 guns and they were used as a display models that were never issued, similar to the Bottom Dial razors. They command a huge premium to collectors. Its all the same mil-spec parts that will fit into any 1911 but the limited number make people go crazy.

That's incredible. Made me run out to my garage "0ffice" and check my small collection. No joy. Is there a site though to check value of these old razors other than simply comparing the sold prices on Ebay
?
