20150907_152637.jpg20150907_152637.jpgComing home from Tahoe the wife and I decided we needed our hwy 49 fix so we took the long cut. Once I hit the sign that said Sierra County my goldar started going off, bad gold fever set in. My wife runs in the store and grabs a gold pan and some jerky and we hit the river! First pan one micro speck! I said "there is gold in these here parts"! Had time to run a couple more pans and got a bigger piece. Took the edge off the fever for sure! Here are some photos from the trip enjoy!

:censored: we're in DEEP kaka all over for sure. Some government agency posted a story on tv news last night that we're 15 trillion gallons low and it'll take 5 years of 150% normal rain to even get back to normal. From what I've seen in calif/Nevada/Oregon we'll need more and NOTHING will bring back Lassen National forest as over 1/2 dead and on the ground ......Auf....that brings a tear to the eye for sure...John

All those dead trees means mudslides when the rains return. Sounds like God wants to do a little hydraulic mining for us!

I still say that Californians/people of America NEED to jump these socalled "representatives" azzs and somehow force them to start installing Desalenizations plants up the coast BEFORE this drought gets any worse! they've waited TOOO darn long as it is now! at what point is this idea going to take hold and something is done to save some of the coast????? are they going to wait until the giant red woods are burnt to the ground????

We've had 2 massive plants in San Diego and Santa Barbara for the rich folks--the rest eat sand oh and BOTH mothballed after many 1000s a millions invested because the drought that forced their construction ended. Huge utilitie companies can't lose a gallon of biz to a paid for infrastructure now can they...sic sic corrupt bs-John

Not true The Carlsbad plant is still in the works ready slated to open in 2016. The Sanat Barbara plant was built as an emergency completed in the early 1990's and was only used as a stop gap when needed. It is being refit and plans to run in 2016 as well. Sand city is a town in Monterey county. it is the only city completely supplied by desalinated water population 334. Catalina has one and there are a few other small ones along the coast. In San Diego there isn't a single one existing that desalinates ocean water. They have been desalinating brackish water. The one in Carlsbad will be the largest in the nation when it begins operation. There are around fifteen to seventeen propsed for the state. All in all it is extremely expensive. It takes two gallons of seawater to make one gallon of freshwater.

It doesnt take two gallons of salt water to make one gallon of fresh water. One of the two gallons is used to return the salt to the source. Keep in mind that this is a fact for one process of desalinating salt water. There are numerous other ways to desalinate.

Would love to metal detect up that canyon!

My grandmother got her nugget on the other side of the bridge. I'm sure there's big gold up there. Might be worth finding the owner and asking permission. Another area to metal detect is the hydraulic area and tailings across the river from Loganville Campground.

Thanks for the tips! Some of the best country in California. Crazy geology!

Meaningful mining history in the family is most cool. Grandma found this here,Uncle Whatever,Aunt Bee. Legacy finds are a event to draw from in todays fights. John
