20150907_152637.jpg20150907_152637.jpgComing home from Tahoe the wife and I decided we needed our hwy 49 fix so we took the long cut. Once I hit the sign that said Sierra County my goldar started going off, bad gold fever set in. My wife runs in the store and grabs a gold pan and some jerky and we hit the river! First pan one micro speck! I said "there is gold in these here parts"! Had time to run a couple more pans and got a bigger piece. Took the edge off the fever for sure! Here are some photos from the trip enjoy!

Sweet!!:icon_thumright:
May I ask why you did not have a gold pan with you?:laughing7:

You know it Viking! Left the gear at home so not to interfere with the family vacation. Obviously that didn't work out too well. Never leave home without your pan folks! I told her I would be happy with a dog food or salad bowl too lol.

There are times when that fever just HAS to be fed! I'm starting to need a major fix myself but it's going to be over 105 here all week so it's going to have to wait a bit longer....

Ok... That's long enough!!!!!

Near Allegheny, home of the 16:1 mine. Notice several hydraulic mines in background. 2015-09-08 19.07.08.jpg

At worst, I leave home with an E-tool (one in each car) and heavy garbage bags for sample taking.

Weren't old VW Bug hubcaps dish shaped? Had a friend that panned some color in Colorado with a hubcap.

That's some good advice Nemo! Maybe some adjustable air shocks too! 3/4 ton Honda Civic! Ha!

Reed, we saw the air mailbox for sure! That cracked us up pretty good. Amazing views, our first visit the area.

I almost threw up at the pics of the rivers as nothing left..........stinkn' drought. Been up/down Hi Way 49 100s a times and nothing even remotely close to what it was sic sic sic-John

Makes me kinda home sick seeing these pictures. I spent my summers as a child with my grandmother in the campgrounds around Downieville and Sierra City. Back in the day, my grandmother found a nice 3.3 gram nugget at Lady's Canyon. I pulled a 1/4 gram picker out of hte Haypress a couple summers back. I've been back a few times over the years. Love that area.

Here is a low flow shot for Hoser. 2015-09-09 07.58.55.jpg

QNcrazy, I was eyeballing Lady's canyon. It looks like a righteous spot for sure!
