Dating to the late 1930’s or early 1940’s, this solid metal wall - hanging appears to be cast from either pewter, or some silver alloy, but there are no markings to indicate metal content. There is a stamp on the reverse reading "IO5 Western". The piece feels much to heavy and solid to be tin or aluminum. The piece has a soft gold surface that has rubbed off on some of the higher spots, to reaveal the silver tone metal. It.
Originally this piece was used either as décor in a ceremonial room of an Odd Fellows lodge, or as a grave marker / casket adornment for a deceased member. This unusaul piece measures almost 6" tall by approx. 4 1/2" wide, and features several esoteric symbols with various meanings. The top features an all-seeing eye emitting rays of light, with a pair of hands shaking at center, and the three links of chain at the bottom which encircle the letters “F.L.T”. There are three holes on the piece for hanging / mounting purposes, and overall this rare item is in excellent vintage condition.
