Out today with Ironhorse and the plan came together. Did lots of digging, and it's been a long time since I dug 12 old coins in a day. They're pretty rough, but it was a fun day out. Also got a nice little sling buckle.

American Flying eagle cent (1850s)
1736 George III Irish Hibernia Halfpenny
George III British Halfpenny Circa. 1770-1775
Ships Colonies & Commerce token (1830s)
1814 British Commerce token
1815 Halifax token
1815 Starr & Shannon Halifax token
1815 john Alexr. Halifax token
1812 Lower Canada One Penny token
2 1816 Isaac Brock tokens
Copper disk.

Awesome hunt, you just know when you've dug that many that another iis right there somewhere.

Most are IDable...that's a bonus right there....didn't see the flying eagle .. is it bad ? I'll bet mine is worse...I needed coarse grit just to tell...laughing.

Yep, it's bad, it's my 4th and the worst.

update: As crazy a coincidence as it is, the misc. pieces we were digging today I just ID'ed as being from the same type of Artillery shako plate recently posted. So there might be one very good find there yet if a good part of it is still intact.

Lots of fun right there!

It's been too long since we dug that much, lets not wait so long for the next one!

Crazy to think that a "rare" shakoplate is within our grasp, sadly it has pieces broken off

As long as we can find all the pieces it can be put back together.. so we just need one big one to work off of.

Wow that's a great variety of digs

Awesome hunt! !!

I have never even heard of most those lol. It's good to see you out digging instead of dashing other's hopes lol.

That's a lot of keepers bud. You guys have a lot of nice tokens up there. Great to see you fellas get out and hit a nice spot. Figures you go out and dig a flying eagle and I've never dug one. Guess my sites are a bit old for one but I've found lots of the other 1800s coins. Some day. I hope you guys get a decent hunk of the Shako plate.
I can hear Rick peddling your way as we speak lol

Cool pile of digs there IP, kinda neat you guys up there digging flying eagle cents. Also makes me wonder why so many show up on sites. As I've dug 4 myself from when I started in 2008. None are the good dates but still for a coin that was only produced for such a short period of time there seems to be quite a few out there.
Take Care

I think it's just one of those weird detecting things because most guys up here wouldn't have one, never-mind 4. It really doesn't make much sense because my American coins from that era is fairly limited.

You day of digging would be an instant coin collection for me. I love em all! Congratulations.

Could be one of those weird deals, but makes me wonder if people just liked them & held on them till there houses fell down around them,or didn't & chunked them out in the yards.:icon_scratch:

You beat my best year total of 1800s and early coins in one day. Congrats on a great hunt, hope you find the rest if the shakoplate! HH!

Token city........
