Equinox 800 SE and DFX
Worked a hill this morning and it was very nice... A lot of coin spills and almost all these were not more than an inch or two deep. One area by a tree I just sat and kept digging up coins in a circle. Right around $9 in clad.... The dfx is simply incredible in these situations.... This hill is very large and I did not finish half of one side... I did hunt the other side before...but not this kind of luck.... Well my clad numbers are really picking up finally after a slow start...around $165.... The Se and Dfx really are working well together...more wheaties and silver as well as some very deep finds with the Se. And the dfx is like a vacuum between 0-6 inches... My gold count is down this year...only one...rings at 3...but this combo is a winner!

Hi,
I don't post much but I've been reading your experiences with both machines. You should try marking out a given area, cover it with one machine, then go back with the other and see if the second finds anything the first one missed. Then you could try the same experiment in another spot but this time starting out with the other machine.
Anyhow,
good luck

Hello Gregg!
It's all in the coil, referencing the SE!
Get your hands on a Platypus coil (8.5x11) and you'll retire the DFX. In my opinion, the SE will eat any DFX's lunch.
But, I'd still like to own one. :)

Good idea...each time I hunt I do try to keep a general area of where I hunt. If I find a real hot spot like this one...I take the small metal utility flags out of my trunk and grid off 10 x 10 foot areas. Last year that worked very well. Tomorrow I will get the Se out and go over the general area I hunted today. Then if I have time will move over toward end of hill and start a new area. This is a very busy park and not sure with the joggers, park employees and so on...it is time for the flags...but if it stays hot will do. Almost every single coin was under 3.0, so I doubt either detector would have missed.... but I will work area again....thanks Gregg

Thanks I had the most coin spills of the year for me...three over .75, and at least 7-8 others...hill is used for winter sledding.

whites makes even better machines for clad.....

The clad adds up...maybe a gold coin or a new detector with the $700 to $800 I will pull in...

Honestly Ron the dfx was getting the job done today! It was coin spill after coin spill.... Nothing old but I have been averaging around $4-5 a hunt so this was nice.... Would like to pluck a wheatie or two tomorrow...raining here now....

Oh I saw the craziness that went on over at that other forum.... Very odd...some people seem to busy watching others instead of detecting....but I am sure you will survive....that battery pack you sold me is getting a workout! :D

I can't wait to see your next hunt! :) The Se will haul in some goods!

The DFX strikes again!

Not sure what it is..but the dfx is always a fun machine to take out... :)

Hello again Gregg!
Referencing the other site; you hit that hammer on the head!
Too few people being just too plain mean if I may add. I'm fine with it.
Thank you for what you did; I was told. :)

Comparing detectors. You know this already; no one detector will do it all. The SE is great but is a heavy chunk of metal detecting equipment. I liked how the DFX handles, being much lighter. I have a Cortes coming in; I'm dedicating it to tot lots. At least, the smaller ones. I really like taking my 18 inch coil and murdering the larger tot lots. I found two 14kt necklaces the other day about a foot apart and several rings and lots of clad at one I visit about twice a year. The 18 inch coil is more sensitive than you may think but you've got to move it slow as you do most coils with the SE.
