For info to everyone who attended one or both Uvalde hunts and met my friend Ed who put me in contact with the right people there.I told you sometime back about his pneumonia but haven't kept you up since then.He has been in the hospital since May.I finally got an email from him and talked to him on the phone tonight.He wanted to say hi to everyone and wanted to know when we would be back.Here is the email and you can see what he has(is)going through;
I'm finally home from almost 3 months recovering from hell.
On May 13 I suffered a compression fracture at T6 in my spine. Had to wait for surgery until June 24 so I could be completely free of the pneumonia I had in March before my neurosurgeon would do the deed.
Following surgery I went into rehab at Parklane West, a rehab facility next to the high rise where we live. I'm having a hard time regaining my mobility and have to spend most of my time getting around in a wheel chair. The therapists are working hard at trying to get me back in shape and I start eight weeks of PT/OT tomorrow.

While I've been gone, Judy has done a great job keeping my inbox in workable shape but I still have over 500 messages I have to go through.

Hope you never have a compression fracture--ain't no fun, GI.

WSD, I'm adding Ed to my prayer list. I'm sure it is difficult for him and will continue to be for some time. The back surgery I assume is what put him in the wheelchair. I'll be praying that his physical therapy works wonders for his recovery and that he's up and about in short order. It sounds as though he is in relatively good spirits and carrying a positive attitude about the therapy. That can only help!

oK EVERYONE I am askin all for prayers myself..... I dont know if I will make the hunt ..... unexpected $ problems ....... had to buy a new tire 100$ an a 400$ elec. bill ????? found out a coon had been under house an tore down a peice of duct work so I was cooling the spiders. So have an AC person bill to pay also an now plumbin is not drainin so I will need to call a plumber on Monday / then then to top that one of my part time jobs (boss went over her budget an needs to cut ..... my time to 12 to 10 hours per week. ) So just pray some hhow some way .... I live ck to ck but had some put back for hunt not all yet but some an now I am eatin into it.. So in advance thanks ! :icon_sunny:

MG you have our prayers. It just goes to show when it rains it pours. Sorry about all your troubles. Sure hope you make the hunt. Looking forward to meeting you. If you can't get a ride step out on the road, and hold out you thumb. We'll pick you up.

Greetings from the land of spare human parts. Got my synthetic hip installed and it is working better than the remaining broken one! I am getting around pretty good but have been put on rigid restrictions from the doctor as far as what I can and cannot do in order to heal properly. Taking a long drive in a car isn't allowed for several weeks , so I guess I will have to miss the hunt in spite of my determination. I just mainly wanted to come and visit with many of my old and new friends, 'cause when I get well I can go digging treasure anytime. So, I will miss all of you this year and perhaps see you one and all in another hunt if one comes up this coming spring. Right now I have to spend all my energy in healing enough to get my other hip replaced and then hopefully I will be able to get up and down by spring? Let's hope so. And thanks one and all for helping keep my spirits up during this down time. It meant a lot to me. Monty

Two Patients

Two patients limp into two different hospitals with the same complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.

The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.

The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for a month from then.

Why the different treatment for the two patients?

The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.
The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.

Next time take me to a vet!

As it gets a little closer I will know more ! I just gotta be there. Prayers are really what I need for finances ! And it will be ok !
