Even some good old Catfish would taste good.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Boy I wish I had enough to bring. If I had know back a few months ago when the fish were plentiful in the bayous, I could have caught enough to bring. They aren't doing to good right now.

Why Ron, I'm not looking for pity, just a good time! Even on crutches I'll bet I can out run you. I just hope I'm as full of it as you are when I get your age! But just in case, save me a seat in the shade won't you? Where'd you get that baby catfish River Dude? The last one I caught weighed 54 lbs! That's bait on the Arkansas River down the road from my house a piece. Actually that's the biggest one I caught on a trot line a few years ago, so forgive me if I prevaricate a bit. I've been known to tell a few tales now and then. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Monty

In this same area I've caught them up to 65 lbs. but I would rather eat the one like in the picture. That day we caught 69 of them weighing up to 5 lbs. As a matter of a fact this is what I had for dinner tonight, along with some boiled shrimp.

If none of this food gonna show up,I don't want to hear anymore about it.

Monty, you know the old saying -'The first one doesn't stand a chance'.

Looks like we'll just have to find a good resturant, but I don't know if we will find one the has fish, and peanuts. If we can WSD I'll treat you to lunch.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

I've only tried boiled peanuts once and didn't care much for them. They were kinda' slimey if I remember right, much like boiled okra. But I love okra and have eaten it raw as a snack! My favorite food is a big medium rare prime rib steak au jus. But I can't find a decent one around here. The last really good one I had was in a restaurant called The Dodge House in Dodge City, Kansas. But that was several years ago. My second favorite is pork chops, fried, boiled, broiled or baked just so they are well done, just cooked until the pink is gone. Too many people cook them too long and make them into shoe leather. Third favorite is sea food or fresh fish as in channel cat in the about 5 to 8 lb weight. I was just kidding about the big cat fish. I have caught a lot of big flat heads, but the smaller ones are better eating I must confess. I also like crappie fried crisp with hush puppies. But any frewh water fish must be cooked right out of the water to maintain their true flavor. That commercial grade cat fish you buy frozen at the super market don't really have that fresh fish taste. And in case anyone is wondering, I am a pretty good cook as long as it is down home cooking and I can cook just about anything including cornbread and beans if I am a mind to. Ask Stan about the mock apple pie I made for him last year. I was just funning you guys so I hope you don't take offense at anything I said previously. Monty

No offense here. Boy I wish I had enough of those High fin Blues to bring with me. If I had know that there would have been some there to cook them I woul have arranged to have enough to bring. I would have a job for you Monty. I agree with you there's nothing better than fresh Fresh Water fish. I never remember boiled peanuts being slimmy, and I do love Okra, boiled, fried, and cooked in all kinds of foods.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

NO OKRA! You have to cross your legs to eat fried okra.At least I do.
If you clean your fish right away and freeze in water, they pretty well keep their flavor. But you can't beat fresh fish fryin' over a campfire.
Monty, was that mock apple pie made with crackers? They are good.If someone will give some feedback on that shrimp/crab salad I made at Uvalde, maybe I can make one at the CTH.Of course,no harm here if the feedback is negative.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Okra!!!!!!!
I agree with you on freezing the fish is Water. That's how I put mine up for keeping. Although you can't be them fresh out of the river. Some how I missed the out on the shrimp/crab salad at Uvalde. This I love. I also like good apple pies too. Doggone ya'll making me hungry.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Well.......I have to side with Monty on the "boiled peanuts" thing. It's just hard to believe that anyone would ruin a perfectly good peanut by boiling it. I guess that is why we are not all alike......otherwise we would all probably be detecting with whites also......LOL....see ya all gregd
