I went with some digging buds to a well known site. We were dodging rain showers, but got a few hours in. I wasn't getting many signals but trash, but topped a small hill and got a solid "87" on the Deus. Unfortunately, that's what aluminum trash on this farm rings up at. Out pops a round disc, which with a LOT of hard work to figure it out is a local made Confederate Infantry "I" button. Next up were three small pieces of fired, shredded Civil War lead. As the rain picked up I started heading back to the car and almost immediately got my only minie of the day and a nice surprise, Confederate I button #2. This one has an iron back. The first button has no backmark, and even though it's all there, got flattened pretty good. Button #2 was near a big rock, and the plow didn't smash it. 2019 is heading to a good start.

Nice finds!! The more I detect, the more I believe and understand “never hunted out”. Keep at that site! There will be more history to find!!

Jeff, I'm off again this morning. Same state, different site. Two more days and it's going to freeze over.

Truth, it's ALL private permissions. Two of my permissions have been POUNDED since the 1960's. The one today is well known and the farmer has let a ton of folks on the property, HOWEVER it is loaded with heavy aluminum trash, and stuff is still hiding. One homesite, IN THEORY should have been on this little grassy knoll, and sure enough, found a 19th century foundation there. Cat's intuition. I think my machine helps, but what really helps is because I'm so blasted SLOW anymore I don't zig zag with the machine and cover small areas, better.

Great advice I’m a walker it’s hard for me to detect slow. Maybe I should skip the coffee. Thanks for the wisdom.

Awesome finds Smokey. Congrats on saving that Southern history.

Why didn't they come here lol

Michigan has some great places for wars lol

Nice finds, congratulations! :occasion14:

Thank you all. News Flash! I had someone in the know look at it today, and they came to the same conclusion my pea brain came to EARLY this morning.

The flattened block "I" button was DELIBERATELY flattened during the Civil War for use as a POKER CHIP. I was wondering how it got that way, and noticed the little indentations in the front. No plow or bullet did that. A people did! Ar har!
