I had to go up north this weekend, 650 miles to Columbus, Ohio...knew I would have a little extra time up there in between other crap I had to do, so I packed the detector too. Thought it might be fun to hit some of my old honey holes one last time.

Day 1 we dig Goodale Park and the old cellar hole. Today I tried a few favorite spots but went back to Goodale where I got 2 silver dimes yesterday because the others were completely worked out it seems.

Didn't start out too great either, maybe the dimes were just a random thing...but then suddenly I started getting all sorts of interesting old items. Copper cross, tiny hunk of something marked "sterling", skeleton key, more. By now discrimination is down to just above iron nail and I'm digging everything that repeats and some things that don't. But I'm pulling all these cool trinkets anyways (along with a mountain of screwed up pull tabs.)

Finally I get this "zinc penny" ID, having dug many indians here in the past, I'm excited to see that ID in the patch of old trinkets...sure enough, I see the wreath pop out...but when I flipped it over...well, I turned off the detector, filled in the hole and I knew it was the last hole I'd ever dig in Columbus. 1877!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOO-RAH :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Nice to be back home in SC though...I'll be back out the beach soon, but that injun is gonna be a tough one to top!

Good lord man! That is a SWEET injun. I sure hope there was not another in the hole, did you recheck it or just grab the coin and run?

Seems like you have the magic touch wherever you go. Congrats on another outstanding find!

Anthony

I am having a very strange year...

Thanks for the banner votes all!

Ummmm...now that you mention it, I don't think I did recheck the hole...OOOOPS :tongue3: My mind kinda went blank when I saw it.
