"Posts" # 56 & # 57; MOST interesting... WHAT was in the Lafitte Memoires...? About Marx & Engles...? ???

The Laffite Memoirs came about in the 1940's, supposedly the memoirs of his life written by Laffite himself up to around the mid-1850's. You can find it on Amazon.

Lets examine the provenance of the MEMOIRS of JEAN LAFITTE.
In 1948, John Laflin claimed to be the Great Grandson of Jean Lafitte, stating that he had Lafitte's journal for sale.
Laflin also claimed to have handwritten documents of Andrew Jackson, Davy Crockett, and several others.
The only known son of Lafitte was with wife, Madeline Regaud, Jean Pierre Lafitte, who died of yellow fever in New Orleans, 1832.
When he handwriting of the memoirs and the other documents were compared and analyzed to Laflin's, they were declared to be a match.
While the circumstances of the death of Lafitte is not known, most historians place his death in 1823.
The mention in the memoirs of his meeting with Marx and Engles, and donating money to their cause supporting their beliefs, is dated 1847- 2 years after Lafitte's death.

First, you're trying to summarize a subject that requires "a lot" more in depth research on your part, again, this going beyond just what you find on the internet. Second, you are selectively picking out only those "opinions" that you wish to promote in defense of a personal position and you are doing so without any background knowledge on the people who presented opinions.

Second, if you had actually read the memoirs you will find that your latest date of death is wrong, this not allegedly happening until the 1850's in Alton Illinois. So your summation in regards to Marx and Engels has been passed completely without enough background information to even begin to pass the summation, or most of any summation you've presented in regards to the theory presented or the present subject at hand. Years, if you really want to draw upon your own conclusions then spend the years of required research in order to draw upon those personal opinions. By no other means can your opinions and conclusions truly represent your own.

Hmmm... K. Marx: 5/5/1818-3/14/1883; F. Engels: 11/28/1820-8/5/1895.

MORE than a "mouth-full"; WHAT...?

PS:....and you should really consult handwriting experts of today as they will quickly inform you that when conducting such comparisons it is vital that the two documents were penned recent to one another. Why? They will tell you that age can drastically change penmanship, I am example of that myself, just as many in these forums probably are as well. When talking with these experts you'll also learn that, due to the effects of age, it wasn't uncommon for the aging to even employ scribes/recorders, etc. So here again, you've not done near enough required homework to even begin to pass judgement.

HA! OTHERS have...

Is it? What makes you say this?

If you go to the Library in Austin TX they have all of Jean's documents. 4 feet high of documents from Lafitte. It is possible that some are not his, but most of them are. The book The Memoirs of Jean Laffite is just a bit of what there is in documents. Some were in a fire but you can still see them there. Most are in French.

...and you claim that you do not do the same to promote your theory concerning the Beale Papers?
I maintain that the pamphlet is a western/treasure dime novel with references of people that lived and would be known by those of 1885 Bedford county, with one "solved" and two unsolved ciphers added as a parlor entertainment advertised for sale only in Lynchburg.
You ,on the other hand, continue to go outside of the Beale story to find totally unrelated "connexions" to the Beale story to fit an ongoing pet theory of Adams-Onis Lafitte Bonapartists burying treasure in Bedford county, without a mention of a buffalo hunt .

...and this would be a few after Lafitte made a present of gunpowder to Ward, Kingsley, and Peabody because they took good care of the railroad. As for Marx and Engles, that is also in the "memoirs". You just can't pick and choose what to employ from the "memoirs" to serve a theory and neglect the rest.

Again your newest subject of study is nothing but an attempt to schmooze your way into the forum using the OOOPS method of speculation.

Your whole objective here is as clear as the beard you wear.

Remember not all kids like Santa Claus

Eldo, buddy, the frustration will pass. Referring to yourself as a "kid" is a little over-the-top, but, OK, it was your call.:laughing7:

"Beard"...?

What happened to the Risque bloodline thing? That "sure-one" not working out that well for you recently? What happened to Hutter, as I believe that he was once a part of your sure fire summation as well? Seems to me you're not certain what you believe as it keeps changing face. This is what happens when you commit to two opposing extremes with absolutely no allowances for any middle ground. Me, on the other hand, for better or worse I've pretty much stayed true to what I say I believe, and why.

"A buffalo hunt"......:laughing7:.....really. This is what it has all come down to for you? Surely you don't believe that whole grand adventure was real. :laughing7:
