:hello: Hey Guys, glad to see y'all and that T-Net is back up and running! Well while the Net has been down, I headed down to South Carolina for

Thanksgiving and went back to the site where I found the 1853 Gold Dollar at. :D I invited Jeff down with me and both he and I hit it hard and with attrition for

just a few pieces of lead here and there. Towards the end of several hours of hunting I got a very deep and faint signal, dug down about 9" and popped

out a nice looking button with much of the gilt still remaining on it....Wasn't sure what it was at first then I saw the Eagle and thought it was going to be an

Eagle "I" or something of the like......but when I turned it over there was that HUGE heavily gilted "R" staring back at me. :o I've dug a couple of these

over the years but they are some extremely hard birds to catch...It would've been more probable to have dug a South Carolina button at this site than

this button but I'm VERY happy with this one and prefer it...This is far and away the best Eagle "Rifleman's" I've dug and one I'm happy to put into the case! Also went out

for an hour here at home and snagged a couple keepers:

That's one gorgeous button Josh! :o
Great job on the clean-up too!

Cheers,

Nice recovery Josh. That button cleaned up very nice.

Nice "R," my friend! I'd love to have one of those GAR's in the collection. Just never happened to dig one. Have had buddies who've dug 'em--so I know I've been close. :)

Super good to dig a kepi buckle too. They are a favorite find of mine.

Cheers,

Buck

Josh, that's a VERY rare bird in our area. We generally just have GS, and a few Dragoon and cavalry Eagles. That's a beauty. The next thing you know, you will find a "V" (Voltiguer) pre war Eagle button at home in VA. HH, Quindy.

Thats a sweet Rifleman's button Josh. Love all the gilt on it. I have only dug two, but had to go all the way to Texas to get 'em :laughing7:

Very very nice Rifleman button..those are alot more rare than most people think...I got my first one this year after 12 years of CW relic hunting. Great find my friend!

Right on Josh!!!That is one of two letters(the other being a "V")that I would love to see on a birds chest!!
