Thank you JUST GO DETECTING!! The 8th Regiment button made the BANNER!!!

I went out this morning thinking to meet my cousin at the spot where he found all his finds from yesterday but i called him and unfortunately he was sick. So i headed over to the spot where he told me he was finding all his finds, and it was a very slow start. After walking up and down this steep hill a few times i walked down the the creek to try it out but was way to trashy. While walking but up the hill near the fence and get a ok shallow tone and there lays a button on top of the ground!! So a slowed down and worked the whole hill side and ended up with my OLDEST readable date coin!! 1775 KGII!! I was so excited, i could see the coin pop out of the hole in slow motion and i was hoping so much it was a coin and not a big flat button. I immediately picked it up and could see it was a KG coin, then rubbed the reverse and saw the date appear instantly! The next signal was the Pewter button with the 8 in the center and some words around the edge, any idea on it, is it a Revolutionary War Button? My button total was 11, some old buckle pieces, two CW Bullets, and some other great relics!!! Thank you Matt again for leading me to a great spot!! Thanks for looking a HH!!

Wow F2, that was a great hunt. The only way to slow you & Matt down is for you both to get the flu and take the batteries out of your detectors-LOL. Great coins & relics. HH, Q.

Thanks Quindy!!!
I hope things don't slow down for us to much, i hope this is just the tip of the ice burg for the rest of the season!!!

It's only February and I've just about done as well as last year. lol

Besides no silvers so far, i've also done almost as good with my bullets and relics this year!

The KG III counterfeits are period, not necessarily minted in 1775, but if not then within a few years. Almost all KGIII halfpence found by detectorists in the States are counterfeits from that period.
Not only that.......but 1775 is the most common of all the CFT. dates. I might add.....a very nice example as most deteriorate more rapidly than copper, given soil content and region where they were found. Many examples I have found here, (in the Northeast), are so far gone, all you can tell is that they ARE a CFT. coin. But.....I have found several real nice pieces. (hint...read my signature) :laughing7:

The main problem with the colonial coppers I find is they are just worth smooth, not corroded really just smooth. Wonder why this is?

???, its weird how some will come out looking great and others right next to it will come out toasted?

Thanks everyone for the comments i'll post up some more pics of the button once i coat it with some "wax".

Thanks Steve!
There are tons of broken up glass bottles everywhere in this one little spot, some were pretty early 1900's bottles too:( I saw that piece and thought it looked cool and wanted to see what the rest looked like, do you have a pic of the whole bottle?

Here are pictures of the various Dr Kilmer's Swamp Root bottles. I have three different sizes including the sample size. You found the kidney shaped panel out of the large size in the upper left photo.

Great finds! love the KG.

That is certainly a piece of a colonial era Jew's Harp in the last photo in the original post, lower right. Size may be off in the photo below, but they could be many different sizes. Yours is the broken, larger end on the left, where the iron part would've attached.

Thanks BuckelBoy! Thats awesome knowing its a colonial era musical piece! I thought it was just a fancy old broken hook when i first dug it. Thanks again.

Here is a cleaned up pick with a bee's wax coating. then i put it in a golf ball display case for safe keeping.
Also, Thanks JGD!! it made the BANNER! check it out!
