Testing the F-2 & Tesoro VIDEO

Re: Testing the F-2 & Tesoro VIDEO

You would think as important as this topic is, that the weather would cooperate in your area and heat up to 60 or more. ::)

Badger this is one great post thanks. I was able to put a small test garden out yesterday. I placed a silver quarter 5 inches deep, a silver mans ring 4 inches, a 1968 Penny 5 inches with a rusty nail next to it. A small brass D shaped belt buckle 7 inches deep. I have a used Tek2 that I tested today. Sensitivity set on 80 for testing. I could not go higher with out noise.
All metal mode: Quarter 5" ID 93-95 If I kept the coil on the ground it was 95 all the time.
Discriminate 54: Cuts out rock, iron, light foil. The quarter hit 90 all the time if the coil is on ground. If I had it off the ground it missed the target.
all metal mode: Silver ring 4" ID 90 no problem the coil could be on or off the ground.
Discriminate 54: I could only get the ID one way. I could not figure that one out.
A surprise.
all Metal: Penny 5" with nail. Fast response it showed a 73 and a 32 for the nail. Picked up target very nicely.
Dis. 54 Did not pick up nail that was good. The Penny was very inconsistent. 70-77 The signal was weak.
All Metal: Buckle 7" Picked up target very well. I for got to record the ID number. I was getting cold. :-[

I am not an expert on this machine. All kinds of adjustments might of improved this test I don't know. Hope this helps some one.

Good review Burdie and thanks for the comments.

I hope all this just causes more people to really test their detectors.

And too, deep down inside I still do think my tests were accurate but since I can't be absolutely positive about it I decided to pull the videos.

But this one thing is pretty sure, our detectors are not as deep as we've been led to believe.

I seriously doubt any VLF thoroughly and consistently covers a depth of even 6 inches deep.
