I recently bought a folding shovel from a well known company it was approx. 15 dollars. On the 3rd hunt it broke and I dug by hand until a hunting buddy that was running late grabbed my replacement. I was hunting in a farm field with soft soil( digging by hand) my kids plastic shovel would probably hold up better. I think most of you know the company I'm talking about, I still order from them I just dont want anyone else to run into this. By the way it was rated as the best folding shovel.

if you gotta go with a folding shovel,i have found the best one is the U.S. made issue entrenching tool. i had one left over from my Army days but i bought one extra for about $19.00 from an Army surplus store with a case also. ive used for almost everything and it does hold its own. juat keep it semi-clean around the collar and maybe a little WD-40 every now and again and you wont have any problems with it
