Knock some of that rust off. Looks like a steel trap to me. :thumbsup:

i guess that when i posted this the trap part didnt go through,,,,nor the rest of it,,,was found on the tenessee river near an old indian village,,,,beaver trap? and I also heard that if you soak it in vinagar water that will help remove the rust and crap

I am not sure if you will have much left if you remove the rust and crap. It may be better left as is.

It is not large enough be a Beaver trap,and would have a spring on the other side as well.Probably Coon,muskrat etc :thumbsup:

Agree with Kuger, my guess would be that under all that rust would be a chainless, panless, top half of the springless, remains of a #1 1/2 Victor single longspring animal trap now not good for catching animals up to racoon size animals that frequent that particular river. Whew!

I'm trying to decide which is more disgusting. That ugly brownish very old dirty thing or the rusted hunk of metal above it.
