Well let me first say I really enjoy reading this forum and metal detecting in general. Ive been detecting for about 31 years and have seen some changes in designs and capabilities of these wonderful machines. But something occured to me the other day when I was reading my fishing magazine. Their it was. A Fishing locator with wonderful graphics and in color too. It showed just about everything uinderwater from stumps, fallen trees, logs, fish etc. So why not a metal detector with the same capabilities. I mean we have MRI-Magnetic resonance imaging with radiology. Why not a detector with grahic displays [ in color of course ] that can show coins, rings, pull tabs, relics etc. I know we have the ones with icons and so forth, but this would be so special. No more pull tab digging.

Well it would be nice to have a mini-GPR with a screen to view small metallic objects. However it will never happen unless another popular application can be made for it. Truth is demand for MDs is incredibly small and likewise money for R&D will be tiny too.? Garrett's income from security MDs is far greater than for it's hobby detectors. Besides not being able to recoup R&D costs who is going to buy a $10000? super detector?? ?

Still we can dream a little.
