hello,

I need help in identifying the sword.

Interested his age?

to a historical culture it belongs?



My opinion - a sword from Luristan 12-9 century BC

But I'm not as well versed in this, so I beg help you in this!

long sword - 52 cm

material- bronze

I can't help you. but I suspect those who can would like some context to help with the ID. How you came about it, where, etc. All of those can help them in ID'ing it.

The sword was found on the northern Black Sea coast near the settlements of many ancient peoples. and unless specifically in the desert near the Greek city of Olbia.
In those places we lived Scythians, Greeks, and other peoples before them.
But in my opinion, the sword is like no Greek nor Scythian sword.

I know that the Scythians were traveling to the area of Persia through the Caucasus.
And as troops of Darius came to the northern coast of the Black Sea, through the Bosphorus and Thrace, the aim of the military campaign against the Scythians

Nice Sword. Is it bronze? Can it be cleaned up a bit so the design comes thru better? Congrats on it too!

DONT CLEAN IT !!!!It may be historically significant.contact university archeological department or locate a private expert in ancient weaponry.Cleaning it is a huge mistake before you have it identified.
