Found some buttons including the dandy, slick copper and the buckle from pounded colonial site after work. Its a two piece trapezoidal probably a shoe buckle and dates circa 1660-1720. First of this type for me. Rang up at an 11 on the Nox. Its small at about 23mm x 17mm

Congratulations. Nice find

Liking the super old buckle. Just to imagine the history behind that one. Awesome dig and a very rare find.

That's a really great buckle congrats! If I found that I'd be thinking 1600's all day!!! but one has to respect the facts!

I think this style was popular 1680-1700 and they began to go out of use after that but my book says 1660-1720.

Congrats! That is one nice looking buckle. I love finding buckles because you can just sit and wonder about the history. You wonder where that has been and who wore it. Pretty cool!

Thanks. I agree. Id take a nice 17th century relic like this over large cent or even a seated or most milled Spanish silver. This is the kind of stuff that belongs in museums

Wow, that thing is awesome, great job!!
