Swastika

I found this friday and was wondering if anybody has any info or knowledge about this pendant. The front reads "DERDEUTSCHEN MUTTER". The back reads 16 dezember 1938. There also is a signature on it too but I cant make out what it is. This is the second swastika found here....the other looks like a pin.

By the way, in case anyone's wondering, the shield-shaped pin is the distinctive insignia (DI) of the 22nd Infantry, U.S. Army:
