Hello, I found this among my great grandmothers things. I know the swastika has multiple meanings and I'm not sure on this one. Appears to be gold and brass. No markings on the "head" and the bracelet portion has what appears to be "patent applied for" stamp which leads me to believe it is of US origin. Curious if anyone has seen anything like this before. Thanks

Creskol,

I don't understand what you are saying.

If you look at your very own picture, the Indian symbol is exactly like the Nazi one. The token has a different orientation, but not the other.

Are you talking about the "tilt" to it? Not every german swastika emblem had the tilt.

That's also true. The Fuhrer Standarte, or Hitler's personal standard had a 'square' orientation.

I believe the swastika represents the rotation of the stars against the background of the sky at the North Pole, and as such can be thought of as a astronomical clock. Think how handy that would be in the ancient times.

The Norse thought of it as the Great Mill of Mundilfore, with the handle of the mill being called Manthula, a root of our word month.

So the Nazis didn't have an exclusive on any form of it; the ingenuity of the Old Norse and others took care of that.

Thank you,

I was just a tad perplexed at the assertion of orientation being "the" issue.

Thanks again,

B

To keep you from stroking out at the perplexity of it all, I went ahead and eliminated my posts.

The rotate, slant or tilt means nothing. I dont know why the swastikas in my post face the other way. I noticed it but wasnt going to mention it. I think its coincidence or catalog error.. Anyway, I think its a good ID Bramblefind and I think green check. :icon_thumright:
