Suspender clip with slider

I found this suspender clip in a spot that yielded a number of items from 1850-1870 or so. It's got a sliding mechanism for securing the fabric. I've never seen one like it. No text that I could find on the front or back.

Does anyone have an approximate date for this?

Those are some really cool, ornate clips. I tried googling vintage clips images using different search terms with nothing close to matching yours. Than I came upon a link to T- net for a 2015 posting on this very forum where someone found a nice set on old ones. Tried copying that link to share in a reply to you but that failed ( I'm not good on tech stuff).

Anyway I'm guessing 1870's-1890's.

Yes that was it. My tech savvy sucks. While trying to do a little research for you early today I did come upon another item of interest that I didn't know.

Sam Clemens, aka. Mark Twain, invented and got a patent for adjustable suspender clips in the late 1870's I believe it was. Nice piece you found! Congratulations.
