Hi first post here after finding something interesting. I found this item while wading in a river near the shore in about 5 inches of water. It was sitting near the surface of the substrate. I just looked down and found it. I know the river has historical importance and is near the mississippi in central minnesota and rarely has visitors. I'm guessing the design is a horizon? I thought it was stamped steel but a magnet proved it has no iron in it. I think it is silver from the black patina but I don't know. There are some sort of designs in the corners but they are covered in corosion and I don't want to try and remove it to see what the designs are. Any ideas what this is or what its purpose was.

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome to Tnet. I think the pice you found is clothing related. Maybe to suspenders or garters or something like that. Late 1800's to early 1900's

That would fit with the period of history in which logging occurred in the area. Thanks for the replies! Cool site!
