✅ SOLVED Suspender clip? - 5/30

Hi all, I cleaned up the finds from my last hunt at an old home site, now woods. Found this object that resembles a suspender clip but if so, I've never seen one like this before and I have found a few. Or is it some other relic? Any ideas?

I change my answer what I was thinking was a garter. The slit hooked to the garter and the lace went in the hooks and would allow you to pull it tight.

YEP! There are so many types of suspender clips. This appears to be one of the many types.
