Hey everyone

Been lazy getting up my finds lately. Was doing a clean up tonight and figured I'd share.

February was slow didnt get out much and was on a 3 hunt silver drought. Was finding old coins just no silver.

Sunday I was fresh and hit up an old 1850s ghost town. Was an area where atleast a dozen or so foundations once where. They show up on the map all lined up over a qtr mile stretch.

I've worked it hard over the years but wanted to see what the nox could do. Managed some finds over a 4.5 he hunt including three silvers.

The big bureau of electricity badge hit a solid 34 on the nox. I couldn't find hardly any info about this peice. Assuming it's some type of I.d badge.

Can anyone shed any light on that item. Other than that nothing to special. Did pull a 1910s wheat which is rare for the NE.

Hope to be back out soon.

Jer

Looks like the Equinox did you well, nice digs and nice variety of finds! Is that medal silver? Pretty cool whatever it is!

Beautiful presentation badge! Looks like the findings were deliberately sheared off of the back? Maybe for pocket carry.... Congratulations. Sub 8-)

That's really sweet that badge wowza good job on the finds I would love to hunt a ghost town keep those cool relics coming

Love that badge!
Silver maybe?.....
The Heinz history center might have more info on the Westinghouse Electric Company, which I suspect this is related somehow

Thanks guys,

Yeah it is after 1907 I know that at least with the H added back to Pittsburgh.

My guess is it's from the teens or 20's. I did find a little info on the organization. From what I read they serviced the police, firefighters and trolley lines maybe in Philadelphia.

Very little if any info out there. Yes, it is marked sterling would have had a pin attached at some point.

It's pretty darn heavy at least the weight of a half dollar if I had to guess maybe a little more.

I found a reference to that guy Henry Hemenhouse in an 1897 Pittsburgh press. Apparently he worked for the Bureau of Electricity and he was approved for trolley fare for his work purposes:
Minutes of the Proceedings of the Council Pittsburgh (Pa.). ... in favor of Henry Hemenhouse for the sum of $9.50 for street car fare during the months of November and December 1896 ... and January and February, 1897. as an employe of the Bureau of Electricity,

Awesome research Steve.

Thank you for providing that info. I was sort of on the right track when I thought it may have something to do with the trolley services.

9.50 was probably a lot of money in the late 1800's. I'm assuming he rode for free and fixed any issues on the trolley like a normal work day.

I guess this badge would have been on his uniform as a means of I.D?

Crazy the stuff we dig up.

Thanks again,

Jer
