Sunday’s Finds xx

Himself had to work yesterday so only the one day out this weekend. The sugar beet has now been planted so we went to the grass field next to it. This is part of the old monastery and deer park. It’s a beautiful field, has the Roman road cutting thru one corner and it’s the site of an old post mill. Will add the info on that. We can’t detect on that part of the field as it is a protected site.

Not sure what this first item is, it’s not a bridle hanger as has no hole through the top bit? Then a spindle whorl, bobbin shot and dumbbell shot, a very fancy buckle bit, a squashed thimble, decorative bit, pot mend a lead weight, buttons and some crusty pre dec coins.

The views are so pretty, and after a week of sun, spring is springing! Xx

I think your first piece is a bridle decoration. I think the top/tip went through the leather hole and the hole in the decor maybe stitched to the next hole?

Great finds and great scenery. That last photo. seems particularly lovely. It's a shame they won't let you detect the post mill site -- after all, you've been logging and reporting all your finds anyway, what have they got to lose?
