I went back to a town I had hit a couple weeks ago to try some more sidewalk strips, I`m glad I did!
It started out real slow, I only found a couple wheats in the first three hours, I was getting tired and was thinking of going home early.
After a break and some lunch I started another block that looked slightly older that what I was working earlier in the day, after about five minutes I had
a good tone and out pops a 1919 Buffalo! I thought maybe this block will be better than the rest.
Once I got to the end of the block I had found four more wheats so things were looking up, at least the coins were old, so I headed up the next street
and after about 30 yards got a good 28-31 and out pops a 1928 Merc! Now that's what I`m looking for, I hate to got home without a silver so kept on
going.
Ten minutes later I get a screaming 29-32 signal that spiked up to 35 so dug the hole and find out I missed it, dug around with the pinpointer and found
out I was three inches off to the left, so once I cut over a bit, I plop out that piece of the plug and see a big shiny disk poking out, I thought I might have
another Franklin!
Wow! nothing wrong with that, then I proceeded to get my spray bottle out of my pouch and spray it off, I couldn`t believe my eyes when I`m staring at
Lady Liberty sitting there!!!!
Then I looked at the date: 1856! Wow, my oldest coin so far, and on another sidewalk strip of all places!
That makes silver coin #47 for the year, I think I may just be getting the hang of this.
Also found a nearly complete harmonica, a token, and a weird German coin with a swastika on it.
