Suncoast Research & Recovery page

I was working the surf yesterday afternoon along Treasure Island (just north of St. Pete beach) and saw a guy working a detector in chin deep water. My wife was floating next to me (waist deep) on a noodle waiting for the gold, which I never found. Did get $1.36 in clad, a cheap loop earring, and lots of pop tops. Anyway, she floated over to the guy diving deeper to see if he was TN member.

Nope, he said he was hunting for something specific for someone, and never herd of TN. (pfffffffffffft to the uninformed!)

He told her that he is with the Suncoast Research & Recovery Club.

In response, I've never heard of them, so... He had searched an area for a while and then headed south in chin deep water hunting for something. He said he would look up TN and see if anyone was listing what he was looking for, even tho he never said what it was he was looking for.

Here is the web page for anyone interested in this group.

Re: Suncoast Research & Recovery page

Hey Guy, I went to some of their meetings about 10 years ago. It was pretty boring. The hot club is West State Archaeological Society in Tampa. There are some real hard core treasure hunters and some professionals there. They meet the last tuesday of every month at the Forest Hills rec center.

Re: Suncoast Research & Recovery page

I emailed them about an upcoming hunt they are having, haven't heard back yet.
