Picked up a 5" Subbie for moving overburden. Used a 4" for years in the 90's as a kid but didn't care about anything I couldn't pick up with tweezers. 'Ol timers would tell me to throw it back so it could grow. 😭

Being you could fill the outside of a barn with what I dont know I am hoping the community can help me out. =)

I will be using this for moving overburden and looking to set it up best for any small/flood gold that might pass through it. My questions are which way is best direction for the riffles and should I go with miners moss, deep V-mating, carpet, or a mixture of all? I am leaning toward half carpet and half V-mat with moss on top. Also going to order some real miners moss if that is what is recommend. Any other tips are most welcome. Hoping to power her with a Proline GX120 / HP200 combo.

Looks just like this one from the keene site:

This way looks correct to me:

Just realized I put them backwards. The latches go to the front. <-- that way.

Thank you for pointing that out ! You had me scratching my bald head on that one ! In my opinion , there isn't a one dredge fits all scenario's .I traveled to my dredge sites through several state's pulling my trailer full of equipment for different condition's of the creek's and it has helped me fine tune my dredge for that condition ! I brought at least 2 different riffle sets and wire wove screen plus several different mats and I would keep my 4 inch dredge as short and as straight as I could for max. suction and preventing any possible plug ups in the hose. also you gotta have air on a dredge to see what your doing under water !!!! I screen off all my waste material down at the creek . I don't want to travel around with all that waste rock ! In my trailer I keep what tools I need to do all the job's that may come up. I usually go out with food and water for two weeks supply at a time.. And a first aid kit is a must ! I hope I answered your questions and good luck to you in your adventure's ! I like that nugget trap at the feed end of your sluice! EVERY sluice ought to have one !

My plan is to only use this thing to move overburden then go to my electric 2" or Proline 4" with air etc once I get down to the gold. Is there an arrangement of riffles or matting that works best for overburden gold/fines on these submersible dredges?

went with miners moss on top of carpet. The deep V-matt is too tall and I cant get the sluice to latch with it. In the process now of replacing the rusted hardware with stainless now.
