This is a two day post, Friday (5.5 hours) & today 4 hours 45 minutes.

On Friday we finished gridding the whole of the 6th Roman Site. Very small affair with just another 8 coins coming off, but at least 1 was an ablum quality one.
Today we hunted on the opposite side of the brook to the 2 Roman Sites in the hope there was one over there taking advantage of the same water source. It was a bust, so another field crossed off the list.
We then decided to push the limits of the well hunted Roman Site, only to find out it didn't extend any further. This only left us 1 option. Go back over the main site but start on the very edge where we haven't gone over it so much. This proved to work out with Cru'Dad's stunning Roman Silver. Any silver off this site is not that normal, & this one meant we have now got 27 for the year which is our best ever 1 year total! (Beating 26)

Lead Leather Workers Palm Guard (good condition)
14th C Buckle
10 Roman Bronze Coins
1883 Pewter Medallion
Constantius II AD 360 reduced Siliqua (must be EF?) :headbang:

Amazing Roman silver! What is the diameter of that coin? Just trying to get a sense of how big it is.

All of those finds are making me drool. Shoot ... I'd be happy with a brass crotal bell and you don't even bother mentioning it. Anyway ... awesome Roman silver!!

Just change your Tnet name to "Mr banner" already... heh

After coming back and reading the entire thread, I am voting for Crusader's 24th Banner. How often do you see that coin, in any condition?

Of course being a redneck from North Carolina I don't see many of those dug around here and know basically nothing about them. But goodness what a beautiful coin in such amazing condition. I sure hope George finds something like that when he visits the UK this coming spring. A hearty congrats on that little gem.

You must have some kind magic! "Cru-Dad, we need another banner find, loose the genie!" Bammo, ancient silver hot off the press!

Congratz on finding something I've never heard of and will likely never see! I'm with Loco, banner vote in

Without getting it out, about 18mm.

Holy crap, I'd have a smile from ear to ear for a year if I dug one of those Constantius II AD 360 reduced Siliqua. Do you ever have a crappy hunt? Inquiring minds want to know... :tongue3:

At the time that we found the silver we were having a crappy hunt, lol.(0 Roman Coins) We still only ended up with 2 scrappies that day & 6 plain buttons, so that would have been one of our worst days this year, funny how things turn around.

I only didn't mention it because its incomplete.

Don't waist your votes, as Cru'Dads not a member he doesn't qualify. But as a Roman Coin specialist, you can beat he knows what he got!

Getting that out of the ground would put a smile on anybody's face as it's sure is a beauty, congrats to your Dad Cru.

That silver is simply stunning...looks like it was made and dropped yesterday...Congrats
I still can believe you've never found a cob...then again 12 years for me for a better than avg chance and still nothing...
