STUART, Fla. – A student at a Florida school has been arrested after authorities said he was "passing gas" and turning off his classmates' computers. According to a report released Friday by the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the 13-year-old boy "continually disrupted his classroom environment" by intentionally breaking wind. He then shut off some computers other students were using.

The Spectrum Junior-Senior High School was arrested Nov. 4.

A school resource officer placed the boy under arrest after he confessed about his behavior, according to the report. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.

Even though I do not find it funny when somone purposly Passes gas.

If he hadn't turned off the Computers
i'd say he did nothing wrong
to even be Paid attention to.

But Being Arrested for either is Outrageous.

What was the crime ?

That's what I thought Jeff. Imagine having to explain that one at a job interview?

Don't know the law in Florida, but in Virginia deliberate disruption of school function is a misdemeanor. Usually only used when a kid is being a real jerk and not letting a teacher conduct his or her class,
No joke.

OK, he's lucky is just a misdemeanor. Feloney flatulance is no laughing matter....

I know this is gonna sound kinda twisted, but something has got to be done ! I mean there are some kids in school that acually want to learn and try to make something of their future. Mabe this is the solution to the problem.
I mean yeah, kids are gonna be kids, but if they just keep on and on disrupting class, it's obvious that they aren't there for an education. I say keep doing this a few times and mabe these kids will wise up and acually decide to buckle down and learn something.
Just my two cents.
No, I agree McGearhead. Some kids are there to learn and some are just there to fart around......

Such behavior used to be dealt with by a trip to the principal's office and perhaps a paddling. That's too damaging to the young psyche, so now we have to file criminal charges.

Yea But 13-years-old ?

If he was 17 I'd Agree he should be thinking about his Future.

in My opinion 13 year olds are still children in many ways.

Let's not make them grow up any younger then they already are,

I think this is The problem. Kids arn't allowed or expected to be kids anymore.

when I was thirteen I knew very little about the world
around me. I was still running around Playing.

How many over 50 here remember what "13" Was Like ?

I'm under 50, but if I would have done what he was doing in class at 15, I wouldn't have to worry aout being arrested, the nuns would have strung ne up!

I think they ended up turning him over to his parents... might not have been the best decision and btw, he won't have that on his record...it will only be used if he gets into any more trouble..Juvenile records are not public record.

It's a damned good thing that kid wasn't lighting his farts with a cigarette lighter cause he'd probably been charged with attempted arson or owning an illegal weapon (flamethrower) without a license. ::)

LOL. blue blazers are pretty dangerous!

WOW just fartin and turning off computers....here in Philly they break your jaw or arm,put you in the hospital or rob you at your car...i think the teachers here would love to have that kid in her room

hey gang,
I;m 51 and a do remember 13... and if I did what I did when I was 13 today I would have NEVER made it to 14.... I would be a habitual flatulence offender. I would be holding cops at bay with my " super ' powers. My record would read like a " who's who " of the flatulence field. All kidding aside, I think the " best " and " worst ' punishment is to have a parent called at work to come pick up his child because he is being sent home for 3 days. Pops lost money, and had to come pick you up !!!! MAN !!!! That's a house I would not want to be in ( been there done that )...
