Any thoughts? From my late1800s, early 1900s site. My guess is a container for some kind of cream?

It kind of resembles a 30s or 40s fancy bathroom hand rail/grip.

HRC Fuse (broken).
High Rupturing Capacity - these would have been on utility poles, medium voltage (i.e., in the neighborhood of 12 kilovolt, just going by size).

Are there any utility poles near where you found it?

And I just gotta ask... what made you think this was a container for cream? :)

The milk white glass was similar to a face cream jar I found on that site - lots of different time periods mixing together

That's interesting, I've never seen anything like that before? :icon_scratch:
Now I know... 'High Rupturing Capacity - HRC Fuse'.

Kudos to alan m & Anduril for the I.D. :notworthy:

Aaaah...OK, that explains it.
When you said "cream", I thought you were talking about milk. :laughing7:

Which of course, I don't think anyone has ever seen packaged in the shape of a cylinder!

Hmmm, fuse eh? I was going to say it looked like a toilet paper holder rod. I guess you know where my mind is today! :laughing7:

That looks like the end of a fluorescent light bulb !

I don't think it's a fuse. It looks like the metal end cap is removed in the first picture. That picture is a little blurry but it looks like the glass at that end is solid - no hole(s). How was electricity conducted through the fuse?

Poked around - found this on a RR board - Q2962 Car Lights? I was told these came off of a passenger car and were overhead lighting. The white tubes are milk glass white. Just curious if anyone has seen these before and know about what years they might of been in use if they are actually from a train car? Thanks for any help. A. A quick look says 'Yes,' from a passenger car. Probably from alongside or above a bathroom mirror in a sleeping car. I will look further for more detailed info. Posted Sunday, May 17, 2015 by RJMc

Wow this looks exactly like what I have. It would be great if anyone could put a date to the rail cars these may have been used on.

This type of fixture could also be used in older residents, see vintage fluorescent light sconce.
